Default Fuel pressure regulators

Can a FPR that with a FPgauge shows the correct fuel pressure in some way NOT give the correct amount of fuel???

Well think about it, you're merely measuring the fuel pressure in the main fuel line.

If the fuel system isn't set right it can very easily underfuel/overfuel the engine. Just because you have consistently high fuel pressure in the main line (loss of pressure would be disastrous), doesn't mean the right quantities of fuel are being sent into the cylinders.

Cosworth installation ).. more precise Escort Cosworth ... I was just cuirous about it. Could it be possible to have "fuelpressure by the book" 1:1 when boosting, but still not sufficient fuel delivery.

I had this thought when I wanted to make sure my fuelpressure was as it should be and maybe I should change my pump (already uprated but not new), but if the FP gauge show the pressure required when flat out (1.5 bar of boost), will this then be enough for safety??

My logics says it could be possible to have the correct pressure but not the requiered flow, but I am not experienced enough to say that this is the way it CAN be... if anything is faulty, like a tired/to small pump.

Once againg.. just a cuirous Q

Well again as i say if your fuel pressure is consistent that merely shows you the engine isn't consuming more fuel than the fuel pump can deliver, so if there are fuelling issues that will come down to other things like the engine management.

Obviously if there are management issues and the engine is running lean, once those are rectified you may well find the pump isn't up to the job but you can only test for that once you know the management is doing its job properly.
