Default 1.6 zetec. someone help

on my mk6 escort. (1.6 zetec) i ws driving it around, i think its the first time for a week and anyway it was making a whooo whooo noise so i pulled over to see if a back window was open.

when i pulled over the revs started going from 500 to 1500 RPM up and down about 6 times so i revved the engine to abut 4000 RPM held it there for about 3 seconds and let off then it was fine..........

can anyone tell me why it did this?

thanks for help

hmm, odd! was it hunting quickly or was it more rising gently and falling gently?

also, if it not been used for a week an doesnt get driven hard then go an rag the tits off it up the motorway. blow away the cobwebs

if thrashing it doesnt cure it then it does look like the iscv.

also check the pcv house round the back of the engine that attaches onto the inlet manifold. it can colapse and cause an air leak which may be intermittent.

undo the 2 8mm bolts and disconect from the loom. fidally!

then tap out an crap thats in there, spray with wd40, some people have also soaked it in wd40 for half hour to get all the dirt out. then leave to dry and re-fit, also fidally
