As above, this cold/damp weather seems to fuck my central locking up (drivers door, mk6 escort)
Is it going to be the motor or the lock mechanism itself? I'm thinking the locking mechanism. Even with a key its just jammed and you can't open the door
You can hear the motor trying but the dorrs saying no

Sounds like the lock at fault if you can hear the motor working and the door won`t open. Might just need freeing off with wd40 or something similar, but the question is, how do you get the doorcard off to have a look when the door is stuck shut

UPDATE:
I tried squirting loads into the barrel, no difference.
Then as a last attempt before I was going to change the mechanism, I sprayed shite loads of WD40 into the locking mechanism on there (i.e in the door latch) and its perfect again!!
When locked via a key and unlocked you can feel the click for lock and unlock that I feel you should, and the central locking is spot on now too.
However, what do I do now? LOL
What would you do?

I'd make sure I had access to a new lock just in case, then take the old one apart and make sure everything is okay. If it is, I'd remove the old grease (which has probably gone hard by now with age) and replace with fresh grease.
