Default ERST DUMP VALVE

Hi im currently using the bailey piston dumpvalve with no problems at all, but the other day i heard a erst with a different sounding dump valve like a rally car one like a chatter sound instaed of pissstttttt!!, i know the bailey one wot i have is ok and the best for idleing problems but its bugging me on which dumpvalve it was, and it werent a efi engine in it either!!.
Thanks

should have had an efi engine in it. Thats usually the sound of the wastegate shutting i think as someone mentioned on this site sometime ago. You dont get the sound in ERSTs because something to do with the metering unit i think. I think thats what it is

the chatter sound is from the compressor wheel stalling as the air is forced back through it when you lift off ( it has nowhere else to go with no dump valve ) . you can hear this noise coming from the induction kit. as far as i know you shouldn't get it on an mfi car as the flap inside the metering unit will close when you lift off,

Just breezing through might have a TurboSmart external wastegate fitted. This along with their Supersonic dumpvalve leaves an impression.
