Default tyres- which do you use/reccomend

come on,tell me...............

everyday use and occasional trackday.

im thinking michelin pilot sports as they are on the csl's and seem a good tyre.
its for my m5-285/35x18 and 255/35x18!

dont think my worn continental and my khumo ecsta on the rears were a good match

Jay.....check the size of your rears again - think you'll find they are 275s!!

Michelin Pilot Sports I've found are a cracking tyre - little bit different on my Bora with it not being RWD but since fitting them the arse end has never ever so much as twitched let alone stepped out even on provoked lift off oversteer - in the wet it used to be like driving a RWD car before I fitted them!!!

I'd also recommend Eagle F1s too!!

Eagle F1s will fall to bits under an M5 on track IMO.

I have made a set of F1s fall to bits at the ring under my M5. So deffo not them (well said, Stu!)

The Pilots on the CSL are the Cups - do not be confused they are not the same as the Pilot Sports! Also I believe the CSL tyres are a 19" fitment, for the correct ones.

If you want a money-no-object solution, then I will give you the advice I was given by the guy I met at the ring (who owns the driving school that operates the Alfas if anyone has been) who owns an M5 -

Buy the Pirelli P Zero Corsa system tyres on the right tyre sizes for the Porsche GT3 (ie slightly smaller on the front, and slightly bigger at the rear). He reckoned these equated to 15sec improvement at the ring!!!!

If I ever took her back to the ring, that is what I would do. Not cheap though

To add....

http://www.pirelli.co.uk/web/catalog...pe=CAR-SUV-VAN

The tyres to fit are the 295 30 18 to the rear, and 235 40 to the front!

Not knocking the PS2's but Cups they aint!

The PS2 is std equip for the M5, but the Pirelli imho is the better track tyre as it is track oriented.
