as far as i am aware it the same with a L6 ecu, have u cleaned out the iscv ??might just need a clean, before trying to set the idle?
to set the base idle get the engine nice and warm disconnect the iscv under the throttle body u will see the nut 13mm i think undo this and ajust the screw untill she at around 850rpm then lock the nut again and reconnect the valve idle should not change in the slightest when u reconnect if all ok

seems like this may be the best place to ask this , my idle is 850 when first started even on a freezing morning , but when warm idles at 1200 , i've had the isv out n soaked it overnight made no difference , is the base idle what needs setting ? is the 13mm nut only visable after the isv valve is removed can't remember seeing it when isv was off for cleaning ? can't see it i'l have a go at that when i get home car will be nice n warm then ?

The base idle screw on yours,if its a 4x4,is different to the 2wd.
The 4x4 has got a screw for adjustment, its on the underside of the throttle housing, the opposite to the ISCV if you see what I mean
Probably be seized solid too if its a 4x4 type

hi , thanks for the info kev , i think i know were u mean , if you look from above directly underneath the isv under the intake from intercooler is it a little hole just enough to fit a driver inside , you can't actaully see a screw ? is this right ? adjust this how will this effect cold start coz at moment its 850 rpm when cold , surely this should be higher too ?
sorry to sound like a numpty i'd rather ask than break it .

You've got the right hole m8
Its a flat screw in there, not philips. As above though, could well be seized
Setting the base idle is the thing you can do yourself without having to go buy any bits
Not sure it will sort your problem though, because your ISCV should be lifting the idle speed when the car is cold
Have you tried disconnecting the ISCV when the car is hot and its ticking over at 1200rpm,what happpened????
If the idle droopped back to 850rpm you have got electrical/ISCV problem

base idle
hello m8 , had a fiddle in that hole last night , i've now sorted out the base idle , sweet as when warm , think my iscv is knackered tho coz freezing morning today n it struggled to idle , is there any way of testing / adjusting the valve when i had it out to clean i noticed a tiny nut ? i believe the valves are quite expensive ? n i'd like to eliminate a wiring problem b4 buyin a new one !
