It wont get put on a Q plate mate but they may want to have it inspected

You can say nothing BUT it voids your insurance so if you have an accident and they see/check your fucked (i know its unlikely for them to check but it does happen) its down to you realy if you want to risk it.

Just send your log book off with the new engine number/cc in the new details bit, no check no fuss no hassle, I have been doing it for years never ever even heard of an inspection, even when we put a Rover V8(4 litre) in a xr4i.

if you can be arsed with the hassle it'd be the safest bet, but its a big if.

i told d.v.l.a that my xr3i was now an rs turbo, and they said it was made as an xr3i, and regardless what mods i did to it, it would always be on computer as an xr3i!!!

They will NOT change the model description but WILL change the CC of the engine etc if different.
My dads xr4i is a 3528cc(V8 rover) as example, on a "V" plate too.
