You can say nothing BUT it voids your insurance so if you have an accident and they see/check your fucked (i know its unlikely for them to check but it does happen) its down to you realy if you want to risk it.
Just send your log book off with the new engine number/cc in the new details bit, no check no fuss no hassle, I have been doing it for years never ever even heard of an inspection, even when we put a Rover V8(4 litre) in a xr4i.

hi thanks lads i will be putting it on log book because when i had a escort turbo i got done for not telling them that i put a zetec in some cops are not fick the bast**ds lol
i told d.v.l.a that my xr3i was now an rs turbo, and they said it was made as an xr3i, and regardless what mods i did to it, it would always be on computer as an xr3i!!!
They will NOT change the model description but WILL change the CC of the engine etc if different.
My dads xr4i is a 3528cc(V8 rover) as example, on a "V" plate too.
