i have just chaned a rover 414 engine for my friends mum and now the new engine will not fire it has spark and also there is fuel being delivered from the injectors but it just will not start i heard the new engine running before it was taken ut of the car it did come out of a 214 on a p reg and i have put it into a 414 on a n reg the older shape but i retained all of the original managment and mainifolds etc etc from the 414, if you put petrol in thro the inlet it will try to fire and some times will run but run out when the fuel has gone its as if there isnt enough fuel getting there but i checked and the injectors are firing any help,

 

If you say it fires when you put fuel down the inlet manifold you have a fuel proplem. you sure the fuel pump is working, fuel pipes connected right way ect

yeh fuel pipes all correct and the pump is running and there is fuel comming out of the injectors

 

injectors or spark could be mis timed, so fuel goes into cylinder 3 but spark goes to cylinder 1.

 

yeh i was thinking the same but how would this be as it is all the original managment system,
