Default Got Smoke????

Hiya All,
Newbie Sy here, Just brought my first turbo, 1988 escort rs turbo. I brought it about 4 week ago & took it on the motorway today, going down the slip i increased my speed a little i was in fourth & once in the slow lane i went to put it into 5th & the car held back ALOT like i'd breaked & then got 3 little pops, then a big pop then a puff of black smoke shot out the exhaust. After that it drove fine & the turbo is still kicking in, the bailey dump valve is dumping sweet as ever but this pop & blow has spun me out Any advice on what the hell happened is greatly appreciated, im still getting to grips with the car & engine. Ive always wanted 1 & now i can afford the insurance im keeping my fingers crossed i havent brought a shed Cheers
Sy

Aup, had a mechanic look at it & he set it up right & its running sweet again, the dump valve mad no difference to the problem, like as before 'each to their own' but personally i like them Is it true they're making electronic dump valves 4 any car? my brother was on about them, they're meant to sound right shite & metalic

Thanks again for advice

yes its true
ive seen them at halfords and cant believe it!
why bother?
its not a dump valve, its a speaker with a switch that fits
on your throttle somewhere lol, im not joking either.
i like the sound dump valves make lol,but i dont
have one anymore and the electronic dump valve is just one
more reason why.
i used to like mine as i drive a cabby with an rs lump and it used
to make people wonder when it went off but they would probably
just think im some dick with a fake one now.
