yb burning oil
i bought a stage 3 2wd saphire cosworth a few months ago, the last few weeks it has started to burn quite a bit of oil
the car has the usual stage 3 goodies with a hybrid turbo, rs500 cooler its still on the 205 block
what are the usual causes? would it be worth my while changing valve stem seals?
or would i be better getting piston rings and turbo redone! but its running fine, no blue smoke when accererating, its spluttters a bit when starting from cold !

i'll get a bid of blue smoke after its been boosting then say pulling up to a junction, not getting it when accelerating hard, i would say black smoke if anything while accelerating! i would say about 1to 2 litres per 2/300 miles varies!!

if i remember correctly one comes from the block under the inlet, one to the rocker cover and the others just to a wee filter to the atmosphere! so should there be one going to the block under the turbo? when i saw that filter i new it never look right!

20K+ Super Poster.
The oil is your answer as it is crap.
It does not hold it's viscosity very well at all.
Try changing to a decent oil like SILKOLENE PRO S, your engine will also get a lot quieter in the process.
If it has any amount of miles on it the head will need work such as stem seals as a minimum but any much over 60,000 guides/ex valves are usually shot as well.
Or it could be turbo wear, it does from your desecription sound more likely, look in the inlet pipe between turbo intercooler for oil.
