Early 2.0 capris MK1 had a V4 engine, not tuneable, think all MK2 and on were pinto, although I BELEIVE there was a 2.0 V6 but not up on capris by any means, so could be wrong, most likely.

cool i thought the 2.0 was actually a 2.8 v6 injection, but i dont know much about the earlier models, i have just found out mooching around random sites like this one.
but i have been told about the pinto engine before (which was gonna be transplanted into my r5) that its v v easily tuneable to a very respectable power.
ta for ur information btw, any more things i should be looking for on the capri's before i jump off and buy a 1987 model?

If you want a pinto to mod u really need the 205 blocked 2litre injection engine fitted to sierras and granads from 88 on the heads are far better and u can use unleaded fuel with no mods

I used to have one in my cortina with an Kent fr34 cam, power boost valve, K&N cone and a four branch made 128 bhp and 127lbft(injected)

That was on an engine with over 140 k on the clock

Increase to comp ratio and a bit of porting could see 140bhp

Remove the airflow meter and use MBE management to see 150bhp with a cam

I know 2 lads who have capris 1 have a mk3 capri with a 2.1 pinto with a kent ban which he said was about 150bhp n my other mate has a 2.8 v6 mk3 capri which is about 150 bhp n we were having a play on the motorway n the 2.8 nacked the 2.1. I wud suggest getting a 2.8.

The 2.8 Capri can be very economical, more so than the 2.0 ltr if you dont rev it to 6krpm in every gear. I saw 35-40 mpg on a long run.
