testing a rev counter ?

Default testing a rev counter ?

mines decided to give in

its EFI engine with EFi clocks so usually reads ok, but recentely its doing nothing

can i test them to see if they are dead or its the wirring ?

up as they are still dead

can i test a pin on the ECU with a volt meter or anything and then trace it back to see if its wirring or clocks at fault ?

not too sure matey but why not get some more clocks and see if they work??

might be the clock itself.

if nothing works i reccomend a hammer!

the EFI clocks are quite hard to come by and as a result seam to be dear. So need to make sure first!

yeah is suppose. mabye you could just clean then fiddle the connectors. might help.

have had clocks out and all connections look fine at the clock end

Either use a scope on the rev counter signal wire.

Or rapidly switch the feed wire to earth and see if the rev counter moves.

i'm sorry a what

i have tried messing giving earth and the counter seamed to move a little, but didn;t move much past zero, was expecting to get it right round with full earth or something

Well no you wont because its pulsed and youj'll never be able to do it at that kind of speed.

Look on the inner wing by EDIS, theres some green wires and you'll see a little black thingy plugged in, bet you thats knackered

there is in deed a little random plug on its own

test it? or can you get rid of it infact wtf is it lol ?

looks like a standard 2 pin one the same as an injector one?

the loom is a fiesta turbo engine loom

pretty sure thats the problem well done again

moved tape back and one of the wires has totally frayed away could do with checking the rest of this loom me thinks

i have no head on yet so sadley cant test the counter just yet lol

its just a little box screwed to my inner wing is that a condensor ?what does it do, if i recall i did need it on and earther for it to work properly

bridge the plug with a piece of wire and you'll probably find it works!

Best to have one really! Can get you a second hand one if need be.

will try and repair the thing first, makes sence as it became tempremental and then just died so could be just the thing
