Hi, my mate has put a 1.6 cvh engine into his mk3, the problem he's having is when he accelerates past about 2k revs, the revs go mental and jump up and down untile he changes gear, then when the revs get back up again it starts, has anyone got any ideas on what this could be? replaced the plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm but no improvement.
Cheers

tried plugs leads dizzy cap and rotor arm, not tried the ignition module, do you know if there is any quick fix to test the module? instead of going getting a new one first? also with you mentioning the fuel feed, is the 1.3 fuel gear he has got in there at the moment good enough to supply the correct amount of fuel he needs?
cheers again

you need equipment to test the module.
The main fuel line on the car will be the same, they are all 8mm, the pump on the 1.6 will be different i expect though, but thats on the engine anyway.....

RS's don't have them.
Carbs are funny things aswell, just because you've cleaned it oout doesn't mean its ok, the weber ones in particular on CVH's ive had a lot of bad experiences with and i hate them

ok then mate thanks for your time, its bloody annoying with it kangarooing when you put your foot down, will have to get an ignition module to try, how hard is it to fit the twin 40 webers to this engine? do you need to uprate the fuel lines or anything?

hi m8 had them on a 1.6 cvh you need a 12v fuel pump like facet or something(at the back of your car)and remove the old 1,im not sure about this but the standerd pump is driven of the cam(please say if i am wrong)so this has to come off,i then put the blanking plate off the rs turbo over this hole
