Default Oil from D.V.

Hi guys,
This has probably been asked before,Ill start from the beginning any way,
My S1 has been laid up in the workshop for about a year. Every week or so i would go out and start it but not drive it. To day was a great day here so i decided to go for a drive. Collected the car and started driving it home to give it a polish. This trip is about 6/7 miles. About half way home
i got an oily smell in the car. Cautiously continued home. Parked at my house and noticed rather more smoke than normal from the exhaust. Popped the bonnet and to my horror found that oil had been spraying from the dumpvalve all over my newly detailed engine bay. Other than this the car is driving and boosting normally. The engine is more or less standard, just a dumpvalve filter and exhaust no chip and running standard boost. Ive had the car quite a while now and has never gave me any hassle whatsoever. I just find it quite strange that something like this can happen out of the blue with no warning. Could it be with the car sitting so long without being driven?? I hope some one here can tell me what sort of trouble im in and how expensive it will be to put right.
Thanks in advance,
Mark.

oil out the dump valve means theres oil getting into the inlet side somewhere and it can be two sorsces,
1 the breather system could be putting oil into the airfilter box via the thick black pipe, so check in the filter box is not full up with oil, if so check the little breather thingy on the l/h side of the inlet plenum as you look at the engine and make sure all the pipes are secure might be no harm to remove it and dip it in petrol and slosh it about to dislodge and caked oil in there, its the bottom short pipe that takes away excess oil in the breather air and routes it to the manifold for burning using vacuum when the throttle is closed
2 this could be a bit more expensive, the turbo oil seals on the compressor side could be leaking causing oil to be blown right through the air pipes and through the intercooler through the crossover duct and into the manifold giving blue smoke out the back,i have seen this type of leak also put oil into the air filter box dur to air being blown back at snap throttle close.
remove the turbo inlet pipe and check for oil in the pipe and the inlet of the turbo,if it there this could be your problem, but i would make sure its nothing else before resorting to removing the turbo,
because the car was lying up for a year the turbo seals may not be at there best, maybe a good roasting on the open road might loosen them up a bit

Checked the breathers etc and they seem fine, also no oil in the air box.
Took off the turbo inlet pipe and i am finding oil inhere. So i am assuming it is
the turbo oil seals then.

more than likely the seals have perished , if its the original turbo on the s1 she would be at the stage where this type of thing can happen, although i have seen it on s2's as well with low and high milage.
possible turbo removal for seal replacement is on the cards its a little bit expencive but it was going to happen anyway, its a bit of a tricky job to remove the turbo but the handiest way is to remove it attached to the manifold when off remove the actuator and the two steel water coling pipes if fitted in place and it should lift up and out
dont forget the oil return pipe underneath
might be know harm to get a second opinion before doing any of the above

Try this site, although not many users yet, http://s6.invisionfree.com/NI_Fords/...?act=SF&s=&f=1

Its supposed to be an all ford site for the north and south.
