got my mk2 festa yesterday
but on way home noticed the petrol gauge doesnt work...ooops! it did come on quickly then went off again so the guage must work so must be something else. maybe a signal or power wire loose connection? is there a sender unit in the petrol tank somewhere? giv me help plz!! and im after an xr2 lump and woteva else u need to turn it in to the 1.6 xr...gearbox etc. does anyone know anywhere i can get stuff like that around the birmingham area?? thnx ppl

There will be a sender. Its in the top of the tank though if i remember. Pull the sender wire off and cridge it to earth and the gauge should read a full tank.
If i were you i'd drop an EFI 2i/3i lump in, a lot easier to come across and a lot more reliable than a carb

nice one for that m8, is it just an eassy job to put that lumop in with it bein injection? i.e. wiring loom etc. i spose it just costs a bit more to have the job done right?? where the hell do i find engines ready to throw in a car lol?? sorry aint ever done engine swap b4

not the most straight forward job, you'd have to fit a tank with a swirl pot and electric fuel pump, but it'd be well worth it!

lol... niave i may sound m8, im new to car fiddling etc. ive been under the car had a look all the way round the tank for the sender but cant find any wire goin to the tang. is it on the top of the tank maybe?

It enters underneath the rear seat and goes straight onto the sender!
right slag of a job is i do say so myself
You could just pull the back seat forward and just scotch lock a wire onto it, and earth it that way, incase it is the gauge thats faulty
