fuel gauge question...
right got my erst on the road and legal today... but when the car reaches quarter of a tank it runs dry of fuel.... heard of a few doing this before, is it just a case of a buggered sender unit? anyone got any ideas/had same prob before would be much appreciated
Could be a knakcered sender.
I know when i first got my cabby on the road though the gauge didnt work and i ran out of petrol every day for 10 days, so i fixed the sender as it was stuck, but then it would cut out well before the petrol light came on in the instruments, the one way valve was also knackered in the pump, and the pump was whining its tits off too!
Since changing my pump and one way valve its not been an issue since it runs forever and a day with the light on!

my old erst would run out of fuel when it was reading an 8th of a tank left. i was gonna get the sender changed but never got round to it.
never really bothered me though as id just make sure i never ran it down that far (although id still always fail that and end up stranded in places

i dont know whats goin on with it lol but i think i fixed it! So gd luck with ur problem.

Oh really I wonder what they do when they are new ?
It is the arm/float that dictates the reading, and as it is sprung metal, unless you bend it for half an hour each way it is perfectly safe and what happens at the factory when they are made, maybe this is the reason they use stainless sprung steel ?

So your telling me when they build a car they put the sender in and if the gauge is out they BEND the arm.
What a load of bollucks!
How does a sender arm get bent inside a petrol tank aswell

Try reading correctly, I stated that the arm is adjusted so that the float is causing the correct reading, some float arms have a natural bend in them to allow easier fitment in the tank.
I cannot see where I even suggested they do this on an individual basis for each and every car, mind you this is not what was asked for anyway which is probably why I did not say it.
You can exhibit your intellect in more useful ways than garbage you know.

I would read correctly if you spoke proper english! you do babble some rubbish!
What does "bend it half an hour each way" mean
And as you can see, from your quote above, you said they bend them at the factory!
