Hi,

My 1.8 Zetec will not go into 5th, it just revs !!

I've just had my cambelt done on it and am wondering if it could have been interfered with or am I totally off on a tangent?

The guy who did it dropped it off and must have used the motorway on his way back and therefore attempted 5th gear and noticed a problem, unless it has just happened to me.

All the other gears work fine although 4th has been a little crunchy recently.

It's done 74k miles and has had a gear box leak for a while and was found to have no oil in it, which has now bee corrected.

So basically I don't know if the guy who fixed it has ragged it ot death on the way home (he lives in warrington and has used quarter of a tank - £10 worth of fuel which I think is a little excessive for 40 or 50 miles) or it is a problem that has just happened but been building up as a result of the leak mentioned above.
