ELECRICAL HELP NEEDED
Was checking my turbo yesterday and removed the battery, now when i connect the battery there are no ignition lights and car seems to have no power dont know if i connected the battery right as there was the red wires that went to the live and black that went to the minus but there are 2 brown which i connected to minus,
so im thinking that ive blown something any 1 know what and if i did connect the brown 1ns right any 1 got a pic of there battery connections can they send it to mark.khan1@tesco.net cheers

feed wires on the RS turbo if thats the car it is are RED or are BLACK when switched
earth wires are all BROWN!!!!
DO NOT CONNECT THE BROWN WIRES TO THE LIVE SIDE OF THE BATTERY!

no confusion! the earth wires on the RS turbo are all brown even the haynes manual has a note on it see note 2 below. if you connect them to the live be prepared for melted plastic wire covering .

Right thanks 4 the repliys i found out why there was no power the fuse in my battery charger had blown right i just connected the brown to thelive and the ignition lights are on without the key in but turned over but no fire like the fuel pump wasnt working, so charging the battery again to try on the neutral in the morning, any 1 know why the lights were on wiv no key thanks all

Thats a wierd one.
How did you connect it up if your battery is flat??
Charge it up and see if it works, if not let us know and ill try and help you as best i can!

I slapped a fuse in the charger and charged it 4 half hour just to make sure it would turn over like i said the lights came on the dash wiyhout the key in, it turned over but didnt fire, ive had to put some petrol in like cos ran out yesterday so fuel needed to get through but usally does straight away

no m8 the battery and oil lights are on then when you turn key to crank the engine the oil light goes out battery on then when you stop turning the key the oil lights back on battery 1 all the time

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
seriously, as SafeChav just said, there could be damage if you connected browm wires to the live (+ve) terminal.
I had a problem starting mine a few days ago, seemed to be all down to the battery not having enough charge, charged it fully over night and first thing in the morning, started as normal.
Amazing what an overnight charge can do!

check all the relays, dont know about escorts but they are normally hidden behind the fuse box or in a spereate box in the engine bay near the battery
