my new car escort mk6 gti. seams to smell a bit oily mainly after a bit of a hard drive . I changed the oil on her monday and shes at maximum if not a smidge over also it seams to be p*ssing fuel up the wall i know a 1.8 16v isnt going to be very economical but it seams to be doing nothing to the gallon if i was too guess when i drive steady it must be doing no more than 20 mpg probably less.

so any help would be great !

normally the rocker gaskets leak around the half moon sill on the end of the head or into the plug well. as for fuel problems its more than likely to be your oxygen sensor mate.

 

i has exactly the same problem mpg were like driving a bentley or summat, got the gasket seal changed under the rocker cover which sorted the problem cost about 15 quid fitted.
