Default Ka Zetec 2.0

I have just bought a 2.0L Zetec silver top from a Mondeo.

I am going to be fitting this into my Ka. As far as I know I will need to swap the following:

Flywheel – Swap for an escort 1.8 one.

Sump – Also escort 1.8

Starter motor will be a Ka item, and will mate up with the flywheel.

As far as I know to actually fit this engine ill need to.

Rebuild the engine (cleanup etc no new parts unless necessary)

Sort the mounts out

Drop in the engine and connect to gbox

Wire up the loom + ecu and then connect it to the car loom

Fill up with fluids

Then im ready to go?

Ill be doing all the engine work separate from the car and then I plan to have a week in feb or so where I can just put the engine and everything else in.

Ill be doing the puma brake conversion sometime soon.

Is there anything else I need to do / buy and is there anything major ive forgotten?

Unless you intend to keep the mondeo power steering pump you will also need a 1.8 waterpump.

i doubt u will have room for a power steering pump but u will need a 1.8 water pump as u will have to bring the alternator from the back to the front witch in turn changes the way the belt fits

Right im going to pick up the engine on saturday, its got pretty much everyhting except the gearbox.

Ill pop down the scrappy as well in the morning and try get a few bits.

Ill probly try to find:

1.8 Water pump
1.8 Flywheel
1.8 Sump

Most of the other bits i will get elsewhere.

One thing i was thinking was, will the CV joints be able to cope with the power, or is it a matter of not flooring it everywhere?

I'm pretty sure you will need an Escort ZETEC sump and oil pick up pipe, dont go buying a Mondeo 1.8 ZETEC sump etc.

I was gonna ditch the PAS because currently mine is buggered, and it would be easier jsut to remove it

Did you use the mondy pump or the Ka one?

mondao one and still used the escort waterpump.

custom mount for the alternator and a idle pully.

im runig at about 160bhp and its realy good fun. i think a LSD out of a BC box will fit the ka ib5. if you can find out if it dose it might be woth fitting one as there pretty cheep second hand. it wheel spins alot.
