I have a mk3 escort RS1600i gearbox with S1 internals fitted, was wondering if i can fit the internal gate from a mk4 box into the RSi box so i can use the mk4 gear linkage/quickshift?

Im fed up with worn out mk3 linkages!

You can use the MK4 short shift without, but you run the risk of hitting reverse when coming down from 5th (mine does anyway the linkage is looser than a prostitutes flange )

I'm not sure if you can fit the gate of whether u need to change the front half of the casing, but one way or another it can be done yes

You could also use the gear housing from the box off a MK5 escort and use the longer clutch release fork aswell
