It clearly didn't do any valves because of the sheer luck of when the belt snapped, had the engine of been running, as everyone has said, you would of had a good few bent valves without a doubt.

You dont need to be going fast to bend a valve if your belt snapped on tick over then you can still do alot of damage a valve aint a hard thing to bend and he was trying to start it when the belt was snapped

Yeah i know that, but like he says he flicked it off, and it wouldn't re-start, he is VERY lucky how it went. A starter would never have the same strength/torque to bend a valve as an idling engine would though.....

When i done my xr3i i bent every valve someone told me that if i would have not tryed turning it over after the belt had snapped then i would have probley only done a few you'd be supprised how powerfull a starter is it's got to have enough strength/torque to crank the engine over so i would have thought it would be enough to bend a valve

Think about it, a car can pull itself along at idle, you try pulling your car along on the starter, its pathetic.......as soon as you apply too much load they just stall and lose all momentum.

Yeah i know what your saying but then your trying to pull about a tonne when your trying to move a car with the starter i would'nt exspect a starter to have the strength/torque to pull a car very far but then a flywheel crank a pistons dont weigh a tonne

Yes i see what you are saying but what im saying is an idling engine has a lot more torque than a starter, it doesn't take a lot to stall a starter motor, especially not a CVH starter as they are usually pathetic anyway due to the damage the heat off the exhaust down pipe causes etc

Plus, we have evidence of this here..........
