Default S2 RST power problem!!!

Hi guys ive got a series 2 RST and have recently done a little more engine work on it since all it had done by the previous owner was supposidly a chip, exhaust system, induction kit, intercooler and bleed valves added.

Ive added a kent 34 and stage 3 hybrid T3. On top of this ive changed the intercooler for a full width one and did a normal seive when i put all the bits on.

Now the problem is it was running about 180bhp when i first bought it proven on the rollers and now i have a 2bhp increase from all this work. Is this right?? I was expecting about 210-220???

Powers have said something might be restricting it but i know other mates have done the same mods and got bigger numbers than this.

What could it be??

With all due respect are you sure the car was 180 Bhp before you acquired it? Do you have the graphs to back it up? As im sure weve all experienced at some point people will say anything to sell a car.

The larger IC alone should see some power gain as the charged air will be much cooler, together with the cam you should expect more then 2 Bhp.

I assume you have had the car re-set up, and not just a power run? If you have any good tuner should be able to tell you where the problem lies, if they can't then that speaks for itself.....

even withou turning the boost up benifits should be see and way more than 2bhp imo

with the cooler the actuation temps are goin 2 be consid lower and therefore more air can fit in the cylinders= power

maybe u need to get it set up proper mate so everythin is made to work with other engine mods

good luck

Yeah i have all the graphs and receipts for whats been done prior to me owning the car.

I was running 18 psi with the standard turbo but for some reason power engineering turned it down to 14psi when they set it all up. I havent queried them on it yet as i didnt know if thats what you did with a hybrid??? But mates have told me i can run it at 18-19psi as before spiking at 20. Is this right???

The boost being turned down is probably why then. I can almost bet power engineering turned the boost down as MFI RS Turbos are classic for underfuelling, at least you won't be blowing head gaskets/melting pistons etc

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

Don't ever do that

The fuelling system on ERST's doesn't cope with fuelling for high levels of boost very well. Just because it was running 18psi before doesn't mean it was fuelling right. Power Engineering from what i know have a good reputation, they turned that boost down for a reason. I'd find out that reason before you play with it, just to be safe

Right just spoke to powers and Chris has left them now so the only way i can get it sorted is for Ian to do a power run on it and then adjust the car to its full but safe potential. Lets hope this works??? Thanks alot for all your advice guys its much appreciated!
