Default strange problems with boost on my s2!!

hey all. i have a s2 on a g reg - fitted a new engine to it and has finished the run in miles. the car is very weird - it boosts pretty well in 1st n 2nd but 3rd onwards it struggles to really pick up like it used to before the engine change, if i floor it. if i gradgually accelerate in the 3rd onwards gears it picks up kinda ok but still not as good as what it used to.

also when driving along at say, 60mph or something, plant your foot and it boosts like it used to on the guage but has virtually no extra acceleration!

boost guage shows it boosting to about 0.8 bar which is what it used to be when i first bought the car and i cranked it up on the actuator a bit to run 1bar and still had more to go if i wanted. this time after the engine change ,as the boost is poor ive cranked the actuator all the way and still just reaches 0.8!

can ANYBODY help me please as it is driving me mad...

if any1 is from SW London near Feltham and would be kind enough to help me out then i would be very greatful for your help!

cheers people - hope to hear from you soon!!!

Get it set up mate, a very common thing with MFI RS's. Also check all your sensors are plugged up correct and not faulty.

i think u may have got the amal valve pipes on the wrong way

top pipe to actuator
middle pipe to nippl on turbo
bottom pipe to airbox

That would affect the boost though, his cars boosting, its just not driving like its boosting. I had the same problem before, the TPS is a prime suspect as it is the only thing that controls full load enrichment. If it breaks down it wont fuel properly.

any air leaks??

are u still running the amal valve ?? or a bleed valve??

there so many things it could be, the best thing would be a rr session,

what ecu are u using?? i recomend the s1 ecu's as they dont retard timing like the s2 ecu's do,

i had same problem when i first bought mine, and it was the knock sensor retarding the ecu, so solved that buy buying a chipped s1 ecu

hey guys, cheers for the suggestions. will prob have a look at the weekend now. yer it does boost nicely in 1st n 2nd but 3 onwards under full acceleration is very poor at picking up. ive had 3 different ways on the car - standard with the amal valve. then no valves atall and a pipe going from turbo nip straight to actuator and plugged up the air box one, now have a bleed valve but it fully sealed at the moment as if it was just a straight bit of pipe. (not too sure where to set it to)

the ecu i think is the standard 1 but according to invoices it is chipped somehow? like i say, ran perfect on old engine but it had piston slap. now new engine is in it isnt nowhere near as fun?!?!

hope some1 can help!! cheers peeps!!!

The MFI system is sooooooo tempermental, hence why im not tollerating it any longer, EFI is next on the cards.

You'll probably find a good set up will cure the problems
