Saph 4x4 rev counter bounce

Default Saph 4x4 rev counter bounce

Whilst sat at about 2500 - 3000rpm the needle on my rev counter ocasionally bounces up and down, any ideas??

mines dose the same but lower been told it coil conections???however im gone down the rougt of coilless and haveing major probs??? cant find anyone to supply and fit a drive???may have to go back to the old crap way???its nothing major but still cheak it out??good luck

check the condition of the phase sensor in the dissy!

almost certainly caused by the connectors along the bulkhead above the back of the engine - split them check condition of pins and reconnect, paying special attention to the one nearest the battery with larger wires in As a 4x4 owner you should get used to periodically unplugging those connectors and plugging them back together to clean the contacts... eventually the loopy tacho issue will become a misfire if left.

i have the same problem on my 2wd saff but the phase sensor is new.im not sure if it is gapped spot on but the car seemed to run fine.also the car wont start when is hot.could the 2 be linked???

The connectors aren't present on a 2wd, so you need to check other stuff (equally valid on 4x4, but 9 times out of 10 it's the bulkhead connectors on 4x4):
You need to check all the connections in the supply and (more importantly) the ground path to the coil circuit - this includes the coil and ignition amp connections, earth tag connections on the inlet plenum, chassis earth connection on the front corner of the battery tray.
Try running a stout wire directly from battery negative terminal to the inlet plenum where the earth tags bolt on.
