Default NEED HELP PLEASE ????? SUMP REMOVAL >NOW SORTED<

Started to remove the sump today on 2wd sapph, I have disconnected as per workshop manual,

REMOVED
1, Steering Shaft
2, Power Steering oil cooling loop
3, Power Steering feed line from rack
4, Brack Pipes from crossmember
5, Engine Mount nuts
6, Cross member bolts

cross member still would not drop enough

ALSO NEEDED TO REMOVE (not in workshop manual)

1, power steering from bracket.
2, clutch cable because it run between the sump & cross member.
3, turbo oil return pipe.

BUT the cross member still wont drop enough need to gain about another 30mm

NOT done one before so if anyone can help on this matter I would appreciate it, as I can't think of any thing else appart from releasing the anti roll bar and leaving it hanging from the front struts.

there is a pipe going from your kidney box to the sump under the
inlet too... but thats nothing to do with the cross member..

you sure it wont come off with a bit of persuasion?

the engine mount threads can get stuck in the engine mount arms.

No mate defo won't come the cross member is well bellow the engine mount threads infact the cross member has droped about 5" but the sumps still catching, do you have to angle the sump in any way to remove it.

Just dont seem to be enough room between the back of the cross mamber and the bell housing.

Cancel the UBOVE got the foooker out needed to use two twenty inch Quick-Grip spreders and placed them between the anti rol bar brackets and the cross member and push the cross member foward as far as it would go, still only just came out, probably the polly bushes making everything toooo tight.

Ooops does that mean that you are ment to take the roll bar of aswell, does not mention this in the workshop manual.

Might do this next time if I ever need to take it off again "LETS HOPE NOT"
OH the joy of being a mechanical Vergin.

Also found a few pieces of grit sized metal fragments and a bit of shit stuck to the center of the oil pick up filter is this normal, it had a rebuild about 4 years ago.
