Working electric windows with ignition off
Anyone else get fed up with switching the car off and realising the window is still open?
My last car gave you time to shut the windows, and it seems that Ford had intended the same for the mk5 escorts also. However, looks like the bean counters decided this wasn't worth a pound and fitted a link in the fuse box instead of a relay.
Well, I have just fitted this relay to mine, and the windows work with the ignition off and one of the doors open
The relay is R18 in the fuse box, and the proper ford one should be green. I found some other relay in the shed though.
I have only looked at this on the Cos, but as the fuse box is similar for other escorts, it should work there as well.
Any one else done this?

I wired mine in myself, theres only one live supply wire in the whole system (or at least thats how the mk3 fes ones work) so its a doddle to splice this into an 'always live' wire somewhere.
Or run it straight to your batt (via a suitably fused wire of course).
