Default xr3i turbo question

could anyone tell me how much psi i could run on a standard xr3i with just the basic rs t3 turbo and standard intercooler without doing too much damage,i dont expect massive boost but just to give it that bit extra.

YOU CANT JUST BOLT IT ON MATE
ANY BOOST AT ALL WILL MAKE YOU RUN LEAN AND LEAD TO DET
MORE BOOST THE LEANER U GET LEAN= MELT IN SECONDS

I WOULD SAY IF YOU DONE THIS PROB ABOUT 2-3 PSI

REMEMBER THERES ALOT MORE WORK TO DO LIKE OIL RETURN/FEED
BREATHERS ETC

HOPE THIS HELPS

i know all about the return pipe for the oil and the oil feed pipe,i have all the stuff to run the turbo,i was just wondering how much psi i could run on it,another question, besides the injection system and ecu's,is there much of a difference in the xr3 to the rs,does it not have the same fueling setup

Completly different fuel distributor, The Rs has 2 ecu's, The black ecu controls the fuel and the silver ecu controls the ignition, It uses a different dizzy too. I tried to run the std k jetronic with a turbo, It did work but it worked alot better with the ke jetronic

If you're going to use the K-jetronic, you should use the control pressure regulator from a turbo version. At least old 900 turbo saabs use one that can be borrowed.

It's the one also known as a warm up regulator:

it was good enough for turbo technics. me an a mate turbo'd an xr3i in 2 hours. janspeed exhaust, standard intercooler, t3 turbo, took head bolts out an slipped in a second head gasket for good measure, s2 oil feed, tapped a hole in sump for oil return(never removed sump)

drove well for over a month and boosted to 6 psi. turned boost up to 12 psi and it fell to bits around us!
