These figures are Fords own for the Lambda and catalyst equipped 93 Sapphire. (The most fuel efficient saff ever made)

Urban Cycle:
22.1 mpg

Constant 56mph:
37.2

Constant 75mph:
30.4mpg.

Anyone got a 3dr or early sapphire manual as thesefigures are more realistic for someone having a conversion that didnt have lambda fitted originally, like Rob's 3dr.

Stu I have my original 3dr hand book here.....official 3dr fuel consumption figures were (this is non lambda folks i.e. mapping config only)

constant 56mph - 38.2 mpg

constant 75mph - 30.0 mpg

simulated urban driving 22.8mpg

(Can't help wondering where LEAD FOOT figures are PMSL )

Excellent.. cheers Karl

I can confirm for certain then from customers with 3drs and sapps that my system IS performing better and more economically than they ever were new then. Even with extensive modifications.

I would expect he would have designed it do be easy to do this with, especially given the competition all does it, so yes.

Ive never seen one though so you will have to ask him yourself Pal.

depends exactly what it is you want em to do pal to be honest. If its an off the shelf same day conversion you are looking at around 2weeks notice. If you want a saturday, as many as 10weeks

As you've bttt'd this Stu, I have some technical questions about the closed loop fuelling if i may?

1) What is the highest percentage lambda correction can affect the fuelling? Is it the same in both directions and can this be changed dependant on customer request?

2) What is happening in transient conditions? Is the transition from closed to open loop instant or smooth?

3) Can the PID control parameters (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) be changed on customer request?

4) How do the CO pot and closed loop co-exist? Which is active at idle?

thanks

1) What is the highest percentage lambda correction can affect the fuelling? Is it the same in both directions and can this be changed dependant on customer request?

Its set around 33% But can be changed if you require, although i fail to see why you would want to?

2) What is happening in transient conditions? Is the transition from closed to open loop instant or smooth?

Its smooth, although i prefer lean to rich to be a little harsher than rich to lean so that curve is slightly more agressive.

3) Can the PID control parameters (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) be changed on customer request?

Yes, but again, why would you wish to do so?

4) How do the CO pot and closed loop co-exist? Which is active at idle?

The pot under closed loop control affects the gain at idle only. This serves largely to trim the ecu to the sensor in laymans terms.

Appologies if this isnt clear, just come in from a night at teh syndicate and i am rather hammered. lol

ive been watching for you reply,, and also wondered why someone would wanna changed the 3 term control, and without knowing what the PID terms are set to now,,,, just plucking your own terms intot he equation could end up with wild overshooting/undershooting! and i know as ive tested the terms as set by you stu are great

i get the feeling you can change the 3 term control in the lab software nick?

Hard to guess gareth but hes not an idiot so he must have some scheme in mind.

To hopefully help, here are the most easily and commonly changed values in teh closed loop operation program i use within weber Marelli:

CLOSED LOOP DELAY IF ECT > X
CLOSED LOOP DELAY IF ECT < X
WARM UP CORRECTION MAP CHANGEOVER TIME = X SECS
MAX MAP FOR CLOSED LOOP = X PSI
MIN ACT FOR CLOSED LOOP = X degC
MAX TPS FOR CLOSED LOOP = X deg
MAX RPM FOR CLOSED LOOP = X RPM
MIN MAP FOR CLOSED LOOP + X psi
DELAY BEFORE OXYGEN SENSOR ERROR FLAGGED IF STUCK LEAN WHEN CLOSED LOOP = X REVS
OXYGEN SENSOR A-D RICH/LEAN TRANSITION POINT
CLOSED LOOP CORRECTION +/-%. =X%
COLD START LATCH TEMPERATURE = X degC
MIN ECT IF TPS CLOSED FOR CLOSED LOOP = X degC
1800 MULTIPLIER VALUE IF LEAN AND TPS CLOSED
1800 MULTIPLIER VALUE IF RICH AND TPS CLOSED
MULTIPLIER IF TPS CLOSED BUT NOT ON OVERRUN
MIN NUMBER OF ENGINE REVOLUTIONS BEFORE CLOSED LOOP = Xrpm
MAP TRANSIENT INJECTION ACCEL TRIGGER VALUE for CL
MAP TRANSIENT INJECTION DECEL TRIGGER VALUE for CL
MINIMUM TRANSIENT DECEL FUEL VALUE for CL
TRANSIENT CORRECTION +VE MULTIPLIER for CL
TRANSIENT CORRECTION -VE MULTIPLIER for CL
CL MAP TRIP POINT FOR TABLES X to X = X psi
WARM UP DELAY TABLE TRIP POINT = X rpm
MULTIPLIER IF LEAN & MAP < X
MULTIPLIER IF LEAN & MAP > X
MULTIPLIER IF RICH & MAP < X
MULTIPLIER IF RICH & MAP > X

I have replaced map and table addresses with an "X" for obvious reasons and they are irrelevent to teh topic anyway.

So, what are your thoughts that made you ask mate?

Hi,

i had fit siemens 55, lambda and closed loop chip and i have some questions:

- on bosch injectors, you have a plastic cap on the bottom of the injectors, does i need to fit one on the siemens ?
- i had fit the lambda sensor on the standard connector of my sierra 4*4, how verify if the signal is good ?
- on my l8 , i can turn clockwise and anti clockwise infinite, it's nomal ??? do you have a stop when you turn clockwise ?

regards

Siemens have them as std. If yours do not they are wrong, send them back.

Lambda signal goes to pin 2 of the ecu.

Rotate the screw 4 turns clockwise and then 1.5turns anticlockwise, that position should be fine. They do not have any mechanical stop.
