Default Capri - advise on rolled arches for bigger wheels and lowering...

So I have a mk3 Capri, it’s currently a painted rolling shell.

I want to fit these wheels (that I already have) they are 8.15 and an offset of -8

What’s involved with “rolling and flairing” the arches? I know I sound like a 17yr old with a Corsa Sxi when I say this- but can I use the arch rolling tool that bolts to the wheel hub that’s 30 quid on eBay?

To get it low, I was going to buy coilovers all round. What’s involved in removing the leaf springs and fitting coilovers to the rear?

Thanks in advance. I was hoping to make it sit something like this..

Cheers!

I have been through this. Pay someone to cut the arches back as far as they can, weld them and seal with seam sealer, it's the only reliable way to do it. The phirm in Farnham Surrey are not too far away from you, they can do this all day long and have the bodywork connections.

Sweet wheels and very cool car by the way.

If you do try rolling make sure the paint is is hot as you can make it, people have done it with baseball bat, hot paint and lever against the tyre.

If you really want to rework it, I would, if it was me hunt down an x pack and really smash it..

The Silver Capri is just an example of what he is looking at , not his own car. I would say that it is to low and the rear tyres probably rub on the arch when the extra weight of passengers are in it plus going over speed humps etc. As Caddyshack has said if you want to have really big wheels and tyres on a very low car to get it right extensive arch modification is the only way to go.

To fit coilovers on the rear you will have to 5 or 6 link the axle , you would be better off getting your leaf springs de cambered and fitting lowering blocks .
To fit the link kit you will have to fit link boxes to the shell which involves a lot of cutting and welding.

Iv just 5 linked my Capri it’s a lot of work as nothing Escort is a direct fit, lots of cutting shortening and welding needed! You can still fit coilovers to leaf springs I believe, but the turret boxes need seam welding.

I know that , but you would have to use slipper springs for coilovers / linked rear end. And they were only used to get round the rallying regs I believe.
