very nice workmanship!!

Problem is with it off the car id just have to spend hours polishing it till it was perfect, or get it anodised so it stays looking pretty

I dont want doug to feel victimised by me or any moderators (hence reinstated thread) but I'll happily post all the evidence I have to the contrary if he doesnt mind?

no hes a mechanic, hes not a trader of parts he makes for a few people, i know this as he cant be arsed to make me a sump BUT he did send me in the direction to get some rose joints fo my scooby

its gonna look bad for him but hes not offering hes services on here, he seems to enjoy building things in hes spare time to perhaps understand them ect and help others out at times

as said he wont make me a sump for a impreza but he can help me source the parts

ive got access to a lath, welders, aircon gassing machine and a team of 8 mechanics and 2 panel beaters to work on my car when ever i need, but i dont own a garage, i have a customer who lets me use hes stuff

i thought "trading" was offering services to people, paul at north yorks still sells cossie parts YET if someone posted about buying parts off him would it be deleted ?

if so seems a stupid way to run a site for ENTHUSIAST if you can only thank the PAYING people on the site,, cant see that helping the site users ?

if i thank the bodyshop whos repairing all my body work on my scoobie for the cost of hes staff wages ONLY as appriciation then show the work ( if it comes out well that is) would that also be deleted ?

Go Ginge, these are some of your best posts.

Doug indeed makes all this stuff in the little spare time he has, works 9 till 5 for the council and also has a wife and kid with another on the way. He just loves making and designing stuff and writing and telling people about it.

Ginge you are spot on, i am passionate about this as this it what makes forums good people sharing their knowledge and information. Years ago before internet forums i used to rely on the monthly mags like CCC, street machine or club magazines to get ideas on how to modify cars.

The problem here IB / admin see garage 19 maybe making a few ŁŁ (helping out car enthusiast BTW) and wants a piece of the ŁŁ bit like a Tax!

As I said, it is, and I will happily post my evidence to support this if you want to make such a song and dance about whether or not he is doing this??

but the medium that those enthusiasts offered their services such as magazines, had a monthly price to pay to buy those magazines.
the forum is just like a magazine.

Yes i know but to answer your point

1 Car featured were usually privately owned and they would not get paid to have their car featured, but as you rightly pointed out you had to pay for the magazine. But no cars featured no mag sales.

And it has to be the same on a forum no member no posts and no stats for IB to use to invite google adds Etc. We need posts like this and most forums are built on members sharing their projects and asking for advice.

2 Traders could if they wish pay to place a advert in the magazines, this did vary in price like a full page add would cost loads or just a ź or a 1/8 of page would be cheaper.

Here on PF i think the admin have got it wrong (i have raised the question but got no reply) I said i think they should have a sliding scale trade fee just like a full / half / quarter page add in a magazines. As i see it we have a full page fee take it or leave it.

This is ok for the likes of Reyland, R+B, Turbosystems Etc who can do the large turnover to cover the fee IE full page add, but if garage 9 wants to help members out and say do half a dozen sumps in a 12 month period it is not cost effective for him to do so as by the looks of it he does it in his spare time.

This is just my opinion and it is not my intention to wind people up or cause a argument.

It is in peoples nature to try and help others out, and also show off our capabilities whether this is welding sumps or making a space frame car

garage 19 aint freely offering these parts, he NEVER comes on here offering sly adds

i understand you can find posts, but find how many customers hes actually had ?

marco was offering gearboxes for hes mate that he had no connection to but was allowed to do so which is more like trading than someone whos had a sump made and posted up thanks

marco was involved in the ideas and marketing of said gearset for it to be done,, others on here are also garages ect ect, they also offer work via PM

also lets not forget that its possible to start a business with out the geuine intention of doing it full time,,, my old boss started hes distibution company making exhausts in a shed to pay hes way through uni where he was training to become a doctor, hes now got a multi million pound business aswell as hes medical licence due to hes niche market being quite a needed business at the time

IMO if someone is freely offering, yeah ill admit cut them off but if hes not and its just word of mouth then i cant see the issue, this site was FIRST started with all of us, we all chipped in the cash to keep it running and when it was sold got fuck all but extra adds added to it and we also seem to be loosing free speach

btw this aint a dig at you steve, i understand you also have a "job" to do but lets not get too too harsh and scare off the skilled people who help the members on this site and replace them with the "traders" selling parts for 4 times the price its honestly worth/takes to make due to us sheep on this site not knowing any better

ps: a roger clarke big winged sump is 600 quid,, YES THATS WHAT I SAID !!!, i cant see why its soo much tbh but scoobynet members aint allowed to show the design due to the "traders" not liking others seeing whats inside,,,,,, why would that be i wonder ???
