I must be so stupid i now have one of the most solid rs turbos around, built with new ford parts. In fact some of it is finished off better that new.
Everone is entitled to their own opinion about MK3 or MK4. But to post personel comments like that on the forum is just shit. Go bollox. If you dont like it, dont read the post anymore.

Have you ever taken the carpets out of a rs turbo or any of the bodykit off. I have worked on many ford cars b4 this and they looked great from the outside. Under the parts they were knackered. Dont believe me, keep looking over this forum most of the cars here have had major welding on sills, battery trays, bulkheads, chassis under boot floor. only to be found when stripping the car down. All i have had to do is a streight forward panel job with no fabrication or repairs what so ever. I am too much of a perfectionist when it comes to cars, especially when so much money is invested in it. This car is solid, not a speck of rust anywhere. Respect to those who have made nice cars on a budget in this forum. As someone said earlier its whatever makes YOU happy. The car is something to do in the very limited spare time i get these days. It has been an ongoing three year job. Things (people) out of my control have made it take this long! I posted the pics for a bit of fun, not for a debait about MK3 or 4, or to justify my reasons behind whats been done. I will post the remainder of the pics for those interested. For the few who like the car and the positive comments thankyou. The car is exactly what i want, and carnt wait to run it. I have had loads of cabrios and still have one, a puma which i reshelled when they were new, cossy 2wd and a lotus elise and loads of motorbikes. All of which i have worked on or modified. So i am basically saying i have not just jumped in with no experience on a project i cannot compleate. Watch this space.

uve opened a can of worms with this one mate lol, i can appreciate wot this lot are saying bout keeping it mk3 cos there aint many good shells about and they look the bollox (im biased on that one) but i can also appreciate the hard work uve put into that

you say your a NASA Space Machanic so why have you put a shitty mark 4 rollbar on it?
also how far are you going to go to convert the car to mark 4, because i can still see loads of mark 3 bits there, your only ever going to fool your Saxo driving mates
Cheers lads for the support on this one. Much appriciated. As for the antiroll bar i have just built the car as my previous car was made. I found no problem with it. All said and done its an old design car so it will be driven with this in mind. I just like em and its built for me. If i was that worried about handling i would go get another lotus elise which could out perform this escort easily. Its just a weekend hobby at the end of the day. What i like about the rst is the amount of following its got, like passionford, owners club meets etc. Simple and basic to work on engineering. Also cheeper to run that the cossy i had b4. Some of my mates also have fords. One has a zetec xr2 and another has cabrio rst and one is soon to be building a zetec turbo escort van. These might not be race tuned 0-60 monsters, but at the end of the day they are a bit of fun to work on and drive. Chill out essexcockchops

The puma i got from a breaker and reshelled it at home. Run it for a year then sold it. Wasnt on hpi tho! The cossy i got from a lad i know. it was a 2wd and had most things done to it under the bonnet. Was very fast. 4wd needed!!! The xr3i was mine when i was 17. it had just 30,000 on the clock it was like new. Paid Ł3000 for it. Sold it for Ł2500. Puma shell went to the scrappy up the road. Cut it in half with the angle grinder!

Normally I would say converting a mk3 into a mk4 is sacrilage, but the work and time you put into it makes it worth while. Ignor all the piss takers on here, at the end of the day its your project

When I first saw this post I thought oh no what a waste but after seeing the quality of your work and what you've put into it I think its great and you will have one of the best mk4/S2 on the road
