Another Astra turbo!
Not as quick as Robs, but then I have a cossie aswell so the budget is tight now. 
just a few pics to start it off;
1990 astra GTE 2.0 turbo.
no going back now then! good job none of its going back in
and a few of some of the bits sat here waiting to go on.
Exhaust manifold + external wastegate and adjustable fuel pressure reg.
Corbeau sprint and luke 4pt 3 inch harness.
Autometer gauges
can you see the pattern of the heat gun on my hand? it fucking hurts
Comments welcome, including ones like "its shit get it off PF" and "i'd rather push a ford than drive a vauxhall"
I'll get some more pics up as it comes together, the fooking inside was covered with sound deadening/heat insulation that was stuck down with some sort of tar or bitchumen or summat, what ever it was it was a bastard to fetch up.
Hopefully when finished it should be totally stripped with just a seat and dash, 310-330bhp so it should go well i hope.

couldnt be arsed to clean it and get pics, decided to carry on with some work instead.
I knew i needed some tube or box section welding in to make a mounting point for the corbeau alloy sidemounts for the seat, bloke at work said he would have a look at it for me as he does a bit of welding, but after having a think i decided it would be too much hassle to get the car to him, take the seat out and start measuring, welding, fitting + any extra time needed for fixing in new seat etc.
I used to work in an engineering shop for 7 years so i thought i'd have a go at making something that would fix to the standard mounting points so i could save alot of time by using the existing runners, worked out quites well i thought, even without the use of the basic stuff like a bench, vice and pillar drill it didnt take too long or cause any probs.
old runner
cut off the bits not needed
30x30x5mm angle cut and drilled to size
bolted to the cut down runner
went for 5mm to add some rigidity back to the cut down runner, tis beefy stuff
did the same with the other runner then bolted them in
just need to get 2 lengths of box section welded between to add a bit more support/strength to be safe, all lines up well just needs 4 holes drilling to secure to the side mounts and the seats done
might not be the most orthodox way of fitting a side mount seat but its saved me ALOT of hassle and time.

Waiting around for bits to arrive so i thought i'd give it a polish as it looked a bit dirty and faded, come up quite well i think.

Well interior's 99% complete, just need to find a 4th point for the 4 point harness
Finish the gauge pod, paint and fit and its done i reckon, then i can make a start on the engine when the blower arrives.
Have trial fitted the manifold to check for clearance as i wasnt sure it would clear the breather hose on the front of the rocker cover but it does, just!!
Also made a start cutting the bumper for the 4x4 I/C.
What i never managed to get pics of was how much work getting the dash out was so i could paint the bleeder, never again
Pics as of today;
Tis slow going when your working out on the street, knowing you've got to drag all the tools out there, then back again when you've done, sort of puts you off before you even start

looking sweet and to all the doubters out there my mum kinda had one and theyre suprisingly fast. dont knock it until uve tried it and xe sound gorgeous youve got to admit it.

i used to have a high compression 16v courteney turbo converted astra. went like fook but just refused to go round corners. i'm turboing my 1.6 nova so that should be fun!!!!!!

Yes greg, there's a couple of mk2 shitters around my way but not even the local vaux breakers has any poverty spec mk2's really struggle to find a couple of bits I needed, good old ebay

bit of an update, sick of putting things off so decided to get it finished.
turbo and external wastegate have been sold for a few different reasons really, mainly to make getting it back on the road quicker and the fact 300-320 should be enough for a fwd track car, the other reason was money
Got a hybrid version of the standard blower, that should bolt up with everything, then its just the intercooler that needs making/fitting, and the pipework making up whcih I'm not looking forward to
Will get some more pics up when I make a start as its pissing it down today, typical
hopefully will spend a bit of the cash on some decent brakes and sacrifice the extra 50bhp, just want to get it driving and on the track now.

I'm sticking to a hybrid version of the standard issue turbo cos i can't be arsed to mess about with things i don't know yet.

I know wot your on about the sound deadening one of my mate's has just bought a red top gte for a track toy and we spent ages scrapeing out and cleaning it off.If you haven't sorted a cage or strut braces out yet if your haveing any my mates found a site that does them if u want to take a look ill try & send you a link to it.

Looking Good Matt, is that a Matheus turbo kit? could you get some more pics mate of clearances with the engine and slam panel as im considering one of these kits myself
