mazda mx-5 project
hi,
let me introduce myself, i'm Age 21 yo and from the netherlands(excuse me if my english is bad) for a couple of years i've been following this forum, and now i've got myself to start my own thread.
1,5 year ago i've bought myself a 2000, 1.6 miata with only 110.000 km.
this was how its was at the time:
17'' wheels, stainless exhaust and a new roof.
first mods, plasma dials, carbon bezel and chrome rings.
painted the wheels, titanium grey, looks a lot nicer i think..
then gave the front the face lift bumper and headlights.
bought some seats, koni adjustables, 6-point harnesses and a wilwood big brake kit.
oow, and a new engine, gearbox and an limited slip diff, 1800 cc.
few goodies arrived:
disassembled the engine for measurements,
got my crankshaft and flywheel lightned and balanced.
blasted and drilled(sorry don't know the right word)
painted it...
started to assemble the engine, with new parts and some old parts painted.
oil pump
pic of the pistons.
bottom end.
painted oil pan, with some nice stainless bolts
waterpump,
installed flywheel and clutch,
and the waterpump,
refurbished the gearbox and then painted it.
mounted,
got my flowed head back,
assembled:
valve cover painted,
refurbished the starter,
installed the exhaust and wrapped it:
then got my first powdercoated parts back
started to assemble the rear suspension with stiffer bushes and only the upper
from polu-urethane, new bolts and anti-roll bar connectors(sorry, don't know if that is a word)
i want to use it as a daily so i don''t want it too stiff
started to take the car apart because it will get a new color.
then i've got myself a second hand trunk-lid for something different
got myself a porsche panamera turbo S spoiler....
all electric, this is how it will look like when it is finished, fully extended now.
hope you enjoy it, will update it if i got some spare time.

Liking that a lot, great work.
You put "drilled" above, and said you weren't sure of the English word?
I believe you mean "honed". Big drill in the cylinder?

little update.
getting the car further stripped,
removed the softtop and a lot of interior parts,
and some progress on making the case for the rear spoiler, to make it watersealed and nice looking of course.
this is just the rough making, needs to be smoothed later

I got another head (bp4w) thats without vvt, the vvt engine got a better oil pump and nozzles that spray oil on the pistons, thats why i've bought a vvt engine and then got rid of the vvt.
Thanks for all the kind words.
Will update soon, got a little more work done

update time.
hey, long time no see.
just busy with the project and forgot to post any updates so here are some pics.
car is stripped now all the rust and stonechip have been removed ready to be sent of to the painter:
then made some progress with the rear suspension, refurbished and painted the rear calipers:
got it all together:
got my new brake lines
alloy air inlet trumpets
refurbished the master cilinder and brake booster:
and got some progress on the engine, let the pics do the talking.
and a pic i really liked, made by a mate of some new parts i still have to mount
and these pics i've received yesterday from the painter car is in epoxy now.
hope you like it.
