More bits for project ' Queen '.
Made a start on loom. Completed the loom thats inside the car. The remainder goes through the bulkhead. The loom plugs fit the existing wiring in the car. About 50% completed its a lot bulkier than my old Autronic loom but we have 25 extra functions in loom. Have left space at the plugs for any cut & shunt that may be needed. Also have a Spares plug that has the 12 remaining input/output functions + 12v, Sen Grnd & +5V as im sure Mark will think of other things to fit .
It has DBW all wired up just in case the connection to the Leon pedal harness is in the foreground. May still fit the electronic pedal as im feeling a tad better now. My lack of a spleen has caused me problems in the last few weeks & im on my 3rd course of anti-biotics to fight an infection thats dragged me down.

Loom is complete & will be stored untill i can fit the connectors when the engine is built. Have fitted 2 knock sensors & 2 map sensors. The ISCV can be unplugged if we go DBW as can the APS/Motor if we dont fit it.
Still awaiting info on my Pistons now around 2 months late

Will pick up my bits from Vibration Free probably on Monday .
Interested in the YB Harmonic Balancer that they have developed for my car & also a secret squirrel bit that Mark will not allow me to post a picture of at the mo. Will post a pic of balancer & other parts when i have picked them up.
Im then getting on a plane to the States ( not sure how i will get the shotgun past customs) to suggest to the bods at CP i require my pistons now not on thanksgiving day or what ever day turns those Yanks on

Picked most of the bits up from Vibration Free. The Harmonic balancer is still awaiting a Black finish & will be available tomorrow & be sent straight to MAD. The Pistons are 2 weeks away althought its fairly clear a cock-up meant the order got lost & its now post haste.
Spent part of the morning going through what we are trying to achieve with Mark & his ideas on what can be achieved. Basically three things.
1. My road engine on V-Power on a 9180. Will be around the figures achieved by the EVO recently so 800/820 on pump & circa 2.8bar.
2. Topspeed engine on E85 (probably) on the 9180. Should bump those figures up by 50/60 bhp but 3.0bar will be used to try & crack 900bhp.
This with maybe a splash of gas will be used to attack 215mph.
3. Dyno Queen engine run on E85. The last engine made 838bhp/666ft-lb & the new engine will have, Larger Ports, Wilder exhaust cam & a Turbo upgrade to the GTX version. Should increase Power to circa 870/880bhp with similar Torque. The aim is then to increase Boost to stop the Torque falling away after peak Torque & hence keep Power rising.
The Maths say if 666ft-lb is held to 8K the engine will be producing 1014bhp & if its held to 8.5K then 1078bhp will be produced.
Those are facts all we have to do is hold that Torque
.
If we use a rule of thumb of 1.5bhp per .1 bar boost increase then it will take 1bar of extra boost to make 150bhp add that to 870 & you have 1020bhp. So 3.8bar ( 55psi) is the aim & that should see over 1000bhp.
Its a cunning plan & it will happen if it holds together & the lower part of the graph will be similar to my present engine so massive Torque low down.

Forgot to mention we are now actively looking for a Superflow 901/902 Engine Dyno to test the new engine. Would love to take it to Maclaren but im not sure I want to afford that but its a possibility & close by. Dont want to use the usual suspects as im sure certain quarters will have a conspiracy theory already worked out.

But no superflow.

I only heard you say Maclaren. Was already trying to find out what was Ron Dennis favourite tipple to bribe a cheap price . Then I find out its an imposter

.
mclaren don't make engines, so why would they have an engine dyno? mercedes high performance powertrains in brixworth do however. my ex boss works there in the test department, but i highly doubt that they have the time or inclination to piss about with an old transit engine during the season of the biggest technical changes in a long time.
i once remapped someone's vw at that MPE place, but don't have his contact details anymore otherwise i'd pass them on.

, And McLaren do make enginesthink of there road car although I think Ricardo put them togetherMark

Heres a few bits after balancing.
The front Rattler Pulley - One off item to suit my crank.

The Crank - Made by Derek Kiddle Racing to withstand 1000+bhp its strong not light. double 'D' front end & 9mm Porsche keyway to stop the probs we had with the pulley breaking the tiny YB keyway & the pulley comming loose.

Arrow Rods - 8mm Longer to Marks spec & only available to MAD.

The Flywheel- Under instruction not to say too much as this is part of a secret squirell Assy. Only allowed to show this part of the Flywheel Assy.

Its a sobering thought that parts above cost Ł5400. Its starts to show the cost of developing a 1000bhp engine & giving it a chance of holding together. Still trying to get my head around Ł1000 for the head studs & nuts at Ł23 each
.
Still waiting for the Pistons which are due soon & of course I 100% believe them
. Mark is also re-thinking the valve springs. Apparently some loon driver wants to rev to 9k every gear change.
The car is to be removed from its tomb where its been for 34 months next week & placed in the work area
.
Next job is mods to the drysump system & fitting the dbw pedal in the car.

so proved how strong it was.
I guess you've gone to a 5.25in clutch set-up then Rod? Is the damper a fluid based one? I can't see the point of buying a GTX42 just for a dyno figure but hey, it's your choice/money
I already have a GTX4202 it was fitted when they first came out. The engine was Dynoed at 838bhp on a GT4202 . We had but didnt claim more Power as it was not Dynoed with the GTX version.
Its a 184mm (7.25") clutch & has not changed in size but its now a Dual & not a triple plate.

Big Day.
I can now work on the car so today it was pushed outside & had a major clean. Its still in good nick after 34 months hidden in a tomb of cars/parts. Only a scratch on the passengers mirror that was not there 34 months ago it certainly looks good cleaned. Will start under the bonnet next this may need paint not sure yet.
The Pistons have still not arrived so build start is still a month away as the new pistons + the cams have yet to be balanced.

Was going to go to Marks to start on the underbonnet clean-up today. Looked out the window & thought 'sod that' & stayed in
.
Next chance will be next Tuesday but only if its fine.
Maybe the Pistons will have arrived by then
.
The new heat shield bits have arrived so it will really smarten things up under the bonnet. Need to drop the struts to remove the Spec-R strut brace towers that need to be re-painted.
After that i can fit the electronic pedal to the car. Manual throttle will be used on the Dyno.
Progress is painfully slow but so is my lifestyle these days but it will get there lads even if im to decrepid to ever drive it again
