Just had a phone call from the bodyshop. He said he is gonna put the doors on it and can I come and pick up cause he needs the space.Im really fooking pissed off.So ive paid 1300 quid and the bastard car isnt even finished.Ive got no tax on it cause he as took so long.

your in a harder position because you paid up front so you have limited scope for counter claiming. if you hadn't paid yet you could have went down and taken your car back, paid a nominal sum for the work you consider to be done and and not even the police would stop you if he phoned them because its not non payment, its a payment dispute meaning its a civil matter not a criminal matter.

jesus H this thread just convinced me to buy a welding kit and have a crack at it myself!!

Glenn!! do not remove the car from his garage! go down there, get him somewhere private and have it out with him. ask him to explain why hes charged you so much for so little work, carried out over such a long time. tell him his work is good its just fooking slooooow! and tell him, TELL him that he is to finish off the welding you require, before taking the car back. and tell him you want it done within two weeks. its the least he can do.

also mention in passing that, although you have paid cash you will still be expecting an invoice as your brother in law works at hm revenue and customs and likes to keep an eye on your outgoings ever since you came out of anger management and drug addiction rehab

if you don't take the car he may leave it outside, which would mean even more rust due to it's unfinished condition

get it gone from there and, if need be, buy some rattle cans and primer and spray up the unpainted areas to preotect them at the very least

Really feel sorry for you with the whole saga on this, get the car back and stick up a thread looking for someone off here who can sort your car to a proper standard in a reasonable amount of time for a good price, you can't break I see you encouraging people to not break their cars all the time on here and I think if you broke it for this reason you'd regret it later on down the line, from what I've seen of you on this forum you wanted to own and have owned this car too long to just give up now, if I was in a position to help with the work I would unfortunately I don't have the space, time or proper painting equipment to do so but surely there is someone who has, hope the outcome whatever it is turns out for the best
