Well I suggest you go with a list of possible scenarios and ultimatums before you go. Tbh from reading your thread so far they sound like a bunch of complete clowns and I wouldn't expect anything positive.
Aka worst case you turn up, they've got you over a barrell and the car isn't finished, what do you do, wait another 6 months? You need to put a stop to this.
Obviously I hope you turn up, there's a ray of light and angels singing "la la la la la" a halo appears over the guys head and your car is there waiting for you to drive away.

Glenn,
Just read all this after all your encouragement on my bodgy Focus welding effort project thread and many thanks for that.
I am surprised that you are not doing it yourself but there again if I fuck up on a car that is not worth an wank it is no loss, fucking up on yours would be a crime and not the best car to learn on.
One thing I do know being a Commercial and Programme manager in the Construction Industry is about cajoling work out of contractors. It is the same for any business.
That workshop owner has used your cash to pay wages and bills and there is no incentive for him to do anything now.
If your not bothered about getting it done over winter and want it under cover in the workshop then fair play but if you do want it sorted, providing you have not paid 100% up[ front then these suggestions might prompt some action;
Go down there on a Monday evening with a wad of cash (the remaining balance of what you owe once work is complete), let him see it.
Pick a section of work to do on the car and then say you want it done by Friday at which point he can have some of that cash.
That should incentivise him to get things moving as he will see a way of paying down some wages or suppliers.
There is a risk though if he is a scroat that upon seeing the cash he will put the price up. You have to play it accordingly, you know him.
If you have paid 100% up front then you are fooked and it'll get done when it gets done as there is no leverage.
I've used this method successfully with Contractors (not cash but via bank transfer payments) and have only fronted enough to cover materials to get them going. If they can see a pay day looming then that gets action and get them working on your site rather than someone elses. (Your car rather than someone elses).

GET IT BACK, WE WANT TO SEE IT DONE! Cant really say anymore than has already been said. Its a proper piss take.
2 options I reckon.
1: Keep nagging, on and on till he's done as much as you've paid for already then take your car away sharpish.
2: Go and get it, tell him its the worst service you've EVER used, tell him politely.......to kiss your ass and take it somewhere it deserves to be worked on. All at a cost of losing out on what you've stumped up already.
Hard choice BUT its in YOUR hands ( not literally) as to what you do next.
Personally at this stage I think I'd of had enough, bugger a few quid lost, get it gone and get it done elsewhere. Good luck, you seem too nice to be an arse about it lol

If your gonna give it a few more weeks, be persistent with them. Tell them your coming to have a look at the progress at the end of each week. That way they may do a bit more here and there if they know your expecting something more week on week. Seem more keen and push a bit harder and you may be lucky. I certainly hope so. Dont just leave it 3 weeks without a word and turn up out of the blue!

Hi. I've been following this one a while and I think everything's been said already but this is just an utter piss take by the garage that has your car. I was in a similar position some years ago and I learned a big lesson. You've just got to let them know that you need the car back yesterday. You need to be showing up there once a week at least and keep the pressure on them. You literally at this point need to be following them around the workshop asking them every 5 seconds if the car is done. Otherwise it's going to sit there. I say this as a guy who had his car gone for 6 months, for 2 weeks worth of work. Also, never pay up front for a job that isn't done. Goes without saying. If the guy can't take 2 minutes to tell you what's going on with your car I doubt he gives a crap about it. Get it out of there.
Best of luck with everything. Hope you get sorted in the end.

I will go down next week and see what he says. When I see that the car hasnt been touched I just feel disheartened. I wish I could turn the clock back and I wouldnt of taken it there.
