Default Project Bonus

Have been working on this for a few months now thought its about time I started a thread on it.

Will end up a fast road/track car with a 2.1 zvh OFAM management and all home built

The day it was purchased with my previous creation

Started too strip it as soon as i got home.

Found the obligatory rust

A few hours later ended up with this

Called it a day so took this

My fleet

Next day this little lot arrived

Ended up looking like this by the end of the day

Cracked on getting the car on the spit

Made a start on see just what I was working with by removing sound deadening

All going well but i have neglected too take some pics of the inbetween bit so skip forward too this.

Decided too remove the battery tray as well

However managed too wreck a glove and my finger

As time went on decided a new welder would make life alot easier so got one and made this

Also some random pics

Tool box

My Mug

So too carry on with the story

Some of the rust I have too deal with.

I think I got lazy after this and didnt take any pics of the other side.

So once the sills were replaced moved onto the front and the bumper mounts.

And all done

Filler neck needed too be replaced many thanks too Twins for the replacement

Yet more rust found cut and repaired

Arch repair fabricated

And welded in place

Hole in the top of strut top

Repaired

I think thats all the welding done so decided too splash out

Wideband

Spray guns

And a cheeky stg2 CTS box

Oh and some paint that i didnt think too take a pic of.

So now i think we know where its going now....

The underside was stripped of all of the factory stonechip mainly for welding purposes so I re-stonechipped it all and sprayed with 2k frozen white.

Started too primer the topside

Didnt take any pics of the boring flatting process so onto paint.

Now bearing in mind this is the first time I have use 2k paint I didnt think it was going too badly.

Ran in to some problems with the body kit

Also gave intercooler a lick of paint.

Basically thats where I am at. Have run into a few issues with paint that has meant Ive had too respray it all again. So at the moment I am in the process of flatting 1000 - 1500 - 2000 but i think you all agree the results are good

Progress has stalled somewhat on the car. Me and the old man are in the process of clearing out the garage too build spray booth as I am having far too many issues without one. Hopefully when I am done it will look better than new.

Cheers guys I will update as when I can but job hunting at the moment takes a priority. Plus with the building of the booth nothing is happening for a while. I do have a fine collection of parts waiting too be added. Mostly been stripping the old cabby and sand blasting components.

Also have been dabbling in the home zinc plating game as well. Got me a basic kit from ebay

Cleaned up the bolts

Thats not the best pic ended up using a bench mounted drill and wire wheel came up gleaming.
And here are the results

one of these is a professionally plated bolt can you tell which lol.
And finally my nuts

Not a bad home made spray booth. Got a dinky heater in there and it warms it up nicely

If you don't cover the floor with anythink before you start painting get some water down this helps to keep dust from flying around. That's what my mate does in his booth and it seems to work for him.

Right some more pics for you. Have been getting on with the car over winter. Base coat and clear is going well here are some pics.

Picked up 3 devilbiss Gti guns for a bargain prices as well.

These are all straight from the gun.

After some flatting back and mopping we get this

Now for the bonnet
