I know. I looked at the length of the tailgate and thought, yeah thats massive compared to my roof on the RS, it'll fit. The girlfriend wasn't too happy when i said we'll have to comeback in a bigger car.

I did. I had about 1 foot of space for it, just enough for the roof to rest on the parcel shelf surports.

New living room furniture!

Gleaming!

Thanks lads, Yes got no room. The car is garaged with no room for big parts to store. Inside the car is all paint materials, seals, bodykit and new engine parts.

My bedroom is full of glass and other car bits, then my unborn daughters bedroom has the rear bumper.

I'm still waiting on A pillar trims from Phil as he didn't get time to finish them.

Just spend a few hours in the kitchen sanding down both side skirts and 3 of the arch bodykit. I already got the other painted last year.

My fingers are pretty sore, but glad to get that out the way. Next job s to get the sunroof and frame out to keep safe for when someone needs to buy one.

Once thats off i need to messure 4 inch from round the roof ready to cut the roof out.

/\ Thanks, so everything is ready for paint, the car should be collected on wednesday while im at work. I've done everything i possibly can.

I've messured up how the carbon roof should sit and where to cut, these aren't final messurements yet. Once i've got the a pillar trims from Phil i'll re trial the roof and adjust where needed with the a pillar trims taped to the car.

So im left with a car looking like this:

You can see bits of rust flakes around the sunroof tray.

Not got any updates as of yet, still waiting on my a pillar trims....seem to be getting messed around with this quite abit. Should be getting windscreen on friday done. But at this rate im not sure if it'll be done. Car needs to be complete in 4 weeks time. The more delay with my CF a pillar trims to longer its gonna take. I've been waiting for them for a month now.

Yeah he has told me he'll send them out this week 3 weeks in a row. still not come.

I had everything timed out perfect for when my baby will come(which is now 4 weeks away)

All i need to do is put the car back together (bumpers bodykit lights etc) couple of interior things.

My mates job is paint, roof and sort out a windscreen man. This is all while i'm paying rent for a workshop so i'm paying everyday i'm waiting at Ł25.

Phil said he'll sent them out yesterday morning at 11am to arrive this morning, The postman has already been and gone. Doesn't look like i'll be getting the car done in time for my baby's arrival.

How long have you been waiting for?

I'm getting pretty fed up waiting, once the baby has arrived all my time will be with her, not the car.

Thing is i already got my roof. I've had it for just shy of a month, i did wait 3-4 weeks before that for the stuff to be done. I really need the a pillars so everything is done that my mate(bodywork man) can do before handing the car back over to me to complete myself.

I'll wait til tomorrow incase royal mail are behind collecting or shipping it to my local depo due to the snow, if its not here by tomorrow i'll have to get the windscreen cancelled and get in contact with Phil again (could do with a tracking number).

Very happy, glad the anxious moment of waiting has came to an end.

Looking forward to getting the car back all painted.

First job when its back is to start getting decals, locks lights back on. Then looking at getting a replacement headlining fit.

Seems i'm being let down again. I thought the car would of been painted and delivered back to me.

Turns out my car was never picked up. So im still stuck waiting, I've now given up waiting for the paint job. That can wait til another time.

I've just today ordered a 6 point rollcage using the money i had saved for paint and windscreen.

That should turn up friday or monday, Im now going to rip out headlining and all the other overhead parts. fit the cage and cut out the roof myself.

I know the car wont be done before baby is born now, so once i've done the above bits and got a new non sunroof headlining fit i'm just going to push the car back into the garage and forget about it for awhile.

Update time!

I'm really behind now Baby has made her appearance so i've spent most of my time with her.

I've managed to get a couple of hours in here and there over the last 3 weeks. Today i got stuck in. The rollcage is now in, headlining carefully removed to sell on at a later date.

The roof has been chopped off.

First up the rotten roof(it was pretty crusty between the roof panel and sunroof tray)

then the cage was fit and checked for clearance:

Its gonna be tight getting some of the trim back iin:

The plate is ready to be welded in:

Once thats done i can get the bolts tightened up around the whole cage. I've not fit the front crossbar as the windscreen and non sunroof headlining will need fitting before that gets fit.

So the end result of todays work is:

Car is now ready for paint... Again just a waiting game on when the car can be taken of my hands.

Got an Auto specialist oil separator today from another user.(first 2nd hand item bought for a long time) I've ordered 2 metres of black silicone hosing for the separator, I'm just debating return to metering unit or to a Mocal catch tank>

Not sure if people read this resto thread anymore, but i shall update either way

I decided not to buy a Mocal oil catch as that was over Ł100, but i bought one of ebay for Ł20 black 1/2 litre tank which i'll see if i can mount it on the inner wing.

I also bought a filter and some hoses to fix it to the AS oil separator. As im venting to the catch tank i had to buy a 16mm blanking plug for the metering unit.

I'm going to need a 90 degree angle connector as the filter will foul the inlet hose from the separator.

No pics of the inner side of the roof, its just a black fabric which its rough to touch. Then inside that is the foam core.

My friend text me the other day and said 15th April is the cay he'll collect my car for respray. So fingers crossed when i come home from work the car would have left its home for the last 4 years.

So with that in mind, i fit the oil breather stuff i bought the other week.
