My Transit Connect.
Since selling my rs turbo around 4 years ago i haven,t bothered with modding cars, had 2 kids and bought a house instead.Any way decided to buy a little transit connect for all the little(big) jobs that come with buying a new house.
This beauty:
After using it for a few months i decided to take advantage of my new double garage at the end of my garden.
Painted mirrors and handle and some wheels i got cheap
Spilt the headlamps open and painted the inners black
A set of focus st rims added
Got these cosworth leather recaros off ebay for £100
Then came the fun bit.A transit connect has 1 normal drivers seat and 1 fold down ironing board type passenger seat with no runners so some fabrication skill were needed.
Got hold of another drivers seat to use the runners and mounts off.
First to do was the easy drivers seat.Cut up the base and used the original runner
added angle iron to mount the seat to
Then cross sections
Test fitted.
All painted and bolted to seat.
Next the harder passenger seat.
Used original pssaenger base and added angle iron to mount runner on.
Used runner off spare drivers seat and mounted them together.
Top bars added to mount seat.
All painted
All finished and fitted:

Iv,e finished the van and am now happy with the way it looks.Just sorting through the photos to up load them so won,t be a long drawn out thread.
Next stop lowering it as they sit way too high for my liking and i don,t carry that much weight in it anyway. The rear is a simple axle flip so made and welds some plates 180 degrees to the original.
Doing it this way drops the rear too much so designed a bracket that will allow me to adjust the rear ride height.
Brackets
Bolted together and shaped to exactly the same size.
Made a simple jig to alllow them to be welded in the same place.
All welded and painted
Then fitted
On to the fronts.I used the original connect shock but with Focus rs springs, cups, bearings and top mounts.
The focus rs parts.
Fitted to the connect shock, compare to the original connect shock.
All fitted and sits nice and low(pics later)
Time for a bit off paint now.Got hold of facelift front and rear bumpers and a rear parking sensor kit.
Prepped and primered.
Painted diamond white.

mate, u wudnt believe how tempted this has made me to get a connect for work, damn u
i know u say without the brackets u made up, it sat too low, but how much lower exactly? i cant help thinking if it was mine id want it sitting a bit lower, but of course thats all down to personal preference
still looks great as it is tho, nice work
