yeah its a pretty big engine, i can give you dimensions if you want so you can get a rough idea, and yes the dry sump is the only reason otherwise it would foul on crossmember and steering rack, ive had to recess the bulkhead loads too for the depth.
As far as im aware the mazda wont fit, its all a mix of volvo and custom parts, and lots of r&d.

input shaft bearing to sit in the crank, fits spot on
new rs flywheel bolts and clutch bolts
ap cosworth 6 paddle clutch plate
volvo 850r heavy duty cover plate
t5 hydraulic clutch kit
got the exhaust all tig welded up
new exhaust bolts and gaskets, may as well have walked in with my trousers down for these
also finished the door panels, just got the rear firewall to do and finish the carpet
.....
:sad3:
also going to hopefully have the gearbox rebuilt next week and get the prop made to suite so its getting there. Still lots ive got to get, the last install of the year will be all the water and boost hoses, that will be it for this year, come january/feb all the oil and fuel system will be purchased and march/ april i should be able to afford the vipec v88 ecu and custom loom... hmmmm sounds so easy when you say it like that

small update, finished all the interior panels now, had the gearbox rebuilt, it needed new 3rd and 4th syncro, new bearings and input shaft, also got them to fit the hydraulic clutch kit.
Had a heavy duty 3" prop made too. With christmas n the cold weather haven't really had the motivation to work on the car but just brought a loom and ecu so that will give me something to work on.

so ive started work on the loom, just a few more things left to sort out like fuse box and gauges etc but the engine loom is all complete
have made this mount that goes on the crank pulley to drive the dry sump pump, had to overcome a few obstacles with this as its a nut that goes on the crank not a bolt and the nut couldnt be altered so had to work round that.
also got a mocal 19 row oil cooler, just making some mounts for this at the moment, it will be mounted vertically with the oil entering the top and exiting the bottom

Awsome stuff. If your not working in the engineering or motorsport trade then to be honest your going to waste.

Ha, im afraid its been conveniently smoothed off, however i have heard they are from a mondeo v6 but dont hold me to that, i was going to look at making one or two.
Not much progress happening at the moment, no money + cold weather = unproductive times.

Small update, not much as ive been busy sorting my life out.
After what gjh said i decided to have a change of career and have been accepted for a position as a train engineer after passing assesments and interviews, so thanks for the wise words
Anyway for the update, all i have done is knocked together a mount to mount the dry sump pump to the block.
Will be big updates soon as i will be running the oil lines and plumbing it all in. Then just got do air and water hoses and finish the loom and fueling and a few small things.... sounds so simple like that.
