Default US Focus Project (with some european flavor) **lots of photos**

Bought my focus new in 2005 and have been modifying it since then... Spent the last 2.5 years collecting parts and i am finally ready to get them installed within the next few months. Figured i would show where it started, where it is now, and where it is heading... Hope you guys like seeing something a little different then what you are used to.

One of the first photos i have, car was already modified with a black grill surround (instead of factory "chrome") and clear turn signals.

Stock ride height... (far to high)

Got window tint

Decided to get rid of the chrome headlights...

^^Finished...

Got rid of the stock ride height and lowered the car a little over 1 inch.

Bought myself an exhaust and intake system for my birthday and had it delivered to my dorm at university. (not something they were very happy about )

Intake Installed:

Got new wheels (factory ford svt "eap" wheels)

Tinted the side marker lights

the whole time i was collecting parts when i found good deals...

Ghia rear bumper, stock european tail lights... also in the picture are svt focus side skirts and mirrors.

Then i wanted to fix some ride quality issues (noise mainly)
Full interior tear down and sound deadened...

Re-installed everything, after painting all the interior plastics black, and re-covering the headliner in Black micro-suede

Decided to change the motor bay up a bit...

Added a svt focus rear spoiler.

and started work on the sound system...

This is the last photo i took before winter hit...

So, last week i had all the body parts ive been collecting dropped off at the painters... and im HOPING to get them back sometime in the next week or so, that way when the snow melts i can rip into the car and get it into a better state....
Here are some photos of the parts before paint.

Ghia rear bumper, crash bar and foam.

Svt focus side skirts i got off of a friend after he wrecked his focus (needs work)

Then i found a great deal on a ford "Street appearance package" front bumper

So hopefully i will have more updates in a month or so. I'm hoping to have all the parts back and installed before the end of march, or early april.

Let me know what you guys think.

The US mk2 front end is a lot different to a UK mk2 focus!

wrong!

Thats a mk1 bumper not a mk1.5 , therefor its a 1998-2000 , the mk1.5 (as seen in the ST170 pics) has the mk1.5 bumper which included the bump strips at the top

Tore into the car this weekend... didnt get everything done we wanted to but got some of the big things done...

^^New front end on.

Tore into the back... out with all the stock US junk..

In with the new crash foam and crash bar.

Bumper fitted

Exhaust had to be modified to fit the new european rear bumper, we ended up cutting about 3-4" off of the tip to get it flush.

Back on the ground...

No full car shots today as the cars filthy...
New wheels should be here this week 17x8 and coilovers also.

Know its not a big deal to you guys, but its really different around here... took it for a drive and got a ton of funny looks from people

Looks really well i think, i really like that front bumper. In my personal opinion, i prefer the headlights first time round, with the chrome painted black, am not so keen on the 'eyebrows' it wears now, but as i say thats only my taste.
How did you re-cover the headlining by the way, that looks very cool?
Look forward to seeing it with the new wheels on

Thanks Richie and Silver
The eyebrows went on because the clearcoat on the headlights is pealing from when we baked them and opened them up, i did that as a way to try and stop it for the time being.
The headliner we pulled out and used a 3m high tack spray adhesive on the headliner and the new fabric and just rubbed it on their. It has lasted very well over the years.

Thanks for the compliments, ill post more photos when more updates happen

You've made some big improvements to the car. I feel a bit sorry for you guys in the USA, as some of the stock parts are pretty nasty, especially the rear bumper!

It's come a long way though. Is it a 2.0 Duratec engine in there?

Thanks guys.

Massivewangers, yes some of our parts are horrible, but some are good. Our rear bumpers are just nasty though with the exception of the svt and sap bumpers.
Yes it has the 2.0 Duratec in it

That looks mint mate, especially now that massive rear bumpers gone, this is one of the few cars I've seen with eyelids that actually look quite nice
Keep up the good work

cars dirty, i apologize... we finally got the side skirts on today, the rear disk brakes will go on tomorrow... then i just have the rear tail lights to wire up and sort the audio out....

quick dirty photos.

Im happy with how they brought the sides of the car outward to flush it up with the new wider tires.
