i would have bought this one aswel if i had somewhere to put it, looks in pretty good nik other then the interior and tailgate, i emailed the seller and he said the underside was 100% rust free, might be worth giving the number in the ad a call if anyones after one
i spent most of yesterday out in the rain taking the rear axle off and started fitting the cosworth one, will get some pics up later

Looks well good mate. How much work is it to change a rear axle? I've got a xr4i and I want disc brakes on the rear so wondering how difficult it is. What brakes did you put on front?

yup ive not given up yet lol and not much left to do now, just need to get fuel pump cradle etc on and wired up, gearbox and a bit of wiring which then just leaves the bodywork, im amazed that i still havent found any rust on the car anywhere just a few surface bits on the underside which ive just gone over with a wire wheel and then waxoyled, changing the rear axle is pretty simple, only mod you will need is the handbrake cable which are cheap enough new on ebay, the brake hoses at the rear are on flexi connections where they connect from car to axle and were the right length on my car to just connect up and im using standard 2wd cosworth front brakes on cosworth 3 door hubs, i dont think cosworth brakes will fit on xr4i front hubs though im not too sure

Cheers mate, almost there then, sounds like its going well after the set back of selling it. think I've heard before that I would need complete hubs if I was going to fit 4 pots to my 4i. Look forward to seeing the updates on this thread once its running and finished

should be going up and down straight road again after april usually have some lights following me although ive slowed down alot now having to put up with a 1.4l fiesta as my daily
bit of an update, engine loom is all wired up fuel tank and pump is finally fitted, oil is in the engine fuel lines all connected up, exhaust is on, only thing i didnt measure right and has cost me a bit is the air filter which i now have to re-order, so tomorrow ill be wiring up the fuel pump adding some water, putting the battery back in as should be charged enough by tomorrow, turn the car around and fire her up!
here some pics

Yea I'm afraid so, there's only so many hours in the day and after spending the most of it leaning over into the engine bay and messing with nuts and bolts it gets very back breaking and is nice to finally sit down for a bit after finally getting it running, which is why I recorded it in the car lol

We'll I wanted a black one! Lol I've built this car with the intentions of using as a reliable daily motor, and turning up at even just a funeral in a bright red, loud, big spoilered car just looked far too boy racer and inappropriate dispite how good it looked I've had 5 funerals and 2 weddings last year alone! So the car needs to be suitable aswel as a daily

If you mean the wasted spark? In the end James swore it was all working fine so I got it back and sold it on to an ebayer who's ecu has burnt out a year after running the kit, to which I got emails saying am I sure this ecu works as he's car was previously working just his ecu burnt out, so told him it's just come back from James at msd tested in fully working condition to which he hit the roof and sent both the ecu's into James to be fixed or refunded, James received both without the knowledge of one being mine and told the fella they were both fucked, various emails and texts between me and the ebayer to which he was seriously pissed and a few weeks later both ecu's were fixed and in possession of the ebayer, now have an custom Ahmed bayjoo loom fitted and couldn't have asked from a better customer service from him he really is the most helpful person I've come across when it comes to this car, took me all of 10 mins to fit the loom fully and roughly another 15 mins to get the ignition timing roughly set

I like it in Black, I was just surprised!
But no matter what colour, I think it's not best suited to a funeral.
Anyway, It's good red, black Nice work chap

anyway did a bit more with the car over the last few weeks
one thing i didnt realise was that id need the blue temperature sensor for the ecu to read, so ahmed bayjoo machined the small turbo sensor to take the standard blue 2wd sensor, so that if the sensor needed changing again in the future one wont even need machining as it just unbolts out of the machined old sensor and a new one can go straight in, has saved me a world of temperature senor problems, really happy with how it looks and fits
turbo has been sent into grove garage for a rebuild, 3 door header tank and wash bottle now fitted
tailgate polished up and new badge fitted
gave the car a wash and wax
changed the engine mounts to standard ones to try and drop the engien a bit lower and i didnt like the vibratechnics ones that were fitted
gave the engine bay a bit of a cleanup while i was at it as its being painted soon so all the crud has got to come out
changed some interior plastics over for ones i had stored in the loft that were like new
change of carpet as a 4x4 one was fitted which didnt fit right, 3 door one in now
and something missing in this picture, had me confused when i come to changing the plastics over
still in desperate need of front door cards and an interior loom to make all the warning lights etc work

sorry matey my door cards will be going back up in the loft when i find some cosworth ones
ive got a complete like new base model interior and exterior bumpers chromes etc all sitting up there that might go back on one day for some sleeper fun
there was a new pair of the same door cards on ebay last week that didnt sell, price was a bit high though at £150
not done much on the car this week but theres not much left to do, just waiting on the turbo to come back from its rebuild so its only small bits here and there that need doing
parts left to cleanup and fit
cant decide whether i want power steering or not, ive got the rack bottle pump and pipes etc just never really felt the need for it when i was using the car before as the steering was really light, will have to see when i get going with the car asgain

Was that power steering that wasn't working though Glen?
That's different to a non power rack as you are fighting the fluid.
Boy racer - I have seen the new door cards on eBay but no delivery, not sure if they are really worth it though?
Sure I'll be able to do something with mine.
Don't blame you for keeping all your bits, anything I remove from mine will be kept.

PassionFord Regular
Changing from a non power rack to power one, the biggest reason I think is not really because it's lighter when parking, but the faster rack ratio. Sierra rack with no PAS has about 4,25 turns from side to side and Sierra rack with PAS has 2,5 to 3 IIRC depending on the model. It makes a big difference if you enjoy a spirited drive or even better a trackday every once in a while.
I currently use a fast rack without PAS on my turbo Sierra, it's useable but gets very heavy to the hands after few laps on the track. I'm planning on getting a PAS rack but using an electrical hydraulic pump on it instead of the pully driven one. This is a one option to consider too.
