That's not it mate, while you're concerned about the motor and arm not touching the cam cover and leads, the scuttle panels may not sit flush with the bonnet and will allow water over the engine etc.

Just a thought

It had moved a bit but it still looked a bit to close so the hammer and blow lamp came out to play

On any normal Focus, when you change the pollen filter, Ford were very clever in making the double sided tape on the scuttle panels awkward to renew. Which means you normally had to just buy new ones, which if you look at the pic below you can see a dirty line on the window which is where the scuttle panels sit perfectly in line with the bonnet and wings. If not, they just flap around and look dodgy.

Coley , youre coping well with all the focus/cosworth differences.... im so glad i went to all the effort of putting a complete cosworth floor in mine, and drop checking everything, before the final fit. Keep up the good progress ;o)

Christ Coley, I respect what you're doing and the fact you're doing it completely independently; but these little additions that aren't suppose to be needed like a prop spacer, spacers for the suspension struts, spacers in other places and now having to chop up the turrets again....I'd be worried that its not going to be a safe drive. Please don't take it personally, as I say, I respect what you're doing but it looks like things are getting bodged together in some ways and they're not paying off.

You may not agree with it, but ask people like Andrew Gallacher for more detailed measurements or possibly get DingleRS over to check it out, as I'm sure he will still have the details he copied off the shell Andrew Gallacher prepared. Safety first aye Not exactly type of cars to mess with, after my little misshap last year, one little thing out of place and it really didn't feel right...no matter how small.

i can see where your coming from alan mate ,

but i think as the way coleys took the project on , its a case of fix all the mods on the way ,

have to got a angle finder coley ? im sure the cossie front turret has 14 degrees of camber in it fella if you wanna check ,

in coleys defence , he looks very very thorough in his problem solving , using a lot of stuff made to very close tolarance ect ,

personally i think its going to be fine maybe a bit more measure twice cut once at the beginning would of saved a bit of heartache in places but hey ho we dont all have access to full jigs lol ,

keep on with it mate , every days a learning curve , and with everything youve sussed on this one even if you wernt happy with the finish another one could be turned round in weeks

keep up the graft mate

Coley don't take it personally, hence why I said what I have above. Its all justified because I'm only worried about your safety. Not sure what you're on about with the spelling jibe though??? But if you're getting all defensive and taking everything as malicious criticism, then you can bet your ass I and others will point things out to ensure you're not diluding yourself and risking your own safety. No need to be a petty dick about it

I'm only concerned because mine also has had the turrets fitted from a sierra, but it doesn't have any of the spacers that you've had to use, neither has any other 4x4 Focus I've seen. That's why I questioned the prop spacer, because there had to be something wrong in the front for it to have 2 inches or whatever gap between it and the prop.

I get that its a learning curve, but it really shouldn't be if you have all the measurments using exactly the same type of panels from the same type of car. I may not have built mine, but I'm pretty good at fabricating and can understand the complications that arise when you weld.

So I'm just hoping it all pans out for you in the long run and it won't kill you. All I'm worried about

Thanks pal, but the same goes for you Beefy and anyone else that build a "Frankenstein" car Nothings plain sailing as I discovered in the first days of ownership of a Cossie Focus, nothings straight forward. But you perservere and ensure everything is safe to abuse and should take advice from anyone with anything worth saying or have/had a car similar to take suggestions/ideas from.

Anyways, that's my two pence worth

@ Coley

You mentioned my brothers car? What you on about? Either way, well experienced with fabricating components on a car so I doubt I'd discover anything I didn't expect. But then again, I took the easier/safer option and bought one complete. Personally, I don't feel like an idiot for doing so But plenty to do regardless...

That's fair enough, but then again why did it need cutting up again and spacers fitting but as I say, never seen another Focus build with so many spacers and needing to be cut up again. Just an opinion. Only thing that matters is that it drives straight I guess.

But your build, your way
