omg
hi mate thats like winning tha lotto getting them panels, one little word , i see your fitting them with the shell on axle stands!, i work in a bodyshop and and we build up cars on a jig, and even with genuine panels you can be out 5/10 mil on the end of a chassis rail realy easily, id be very carful and check your measurements to make sure the shells square

yep i was for sure when I bought them off the chap my eyes popped outta my head !! lol and thanks for the advise mate will measure and measure again everything against the data sheet I have for the shell before the panels are welded in.

chap I had the panels off gave me the full data measurment sheet for the mk3 shell so least I know what all the dimensions should be... although remember it was built by Ford !!! lol

Yeah mate sounds fine to me, if all the panels line up right thats all that matters , id dry build the car with all the doors bonnet lights even the bumpers on to get a good idea of fit, you could use self tappers to hold everything togather temporarily lol.

what like ford did !!lol seriously tho ,ive test fitted everything so far before final fixing, tried the door in the holes and all ok, when I get the front on the car I will of course check gaps and alignment... as you'd know some of the panels are shaped in such a way that you can easily see when its not quite right.. and see also when it does fit properly.

thanks for the comments all.... done a little more.. scuttle and bulkhead dressed and welded in now.. the scuttle /dash was actually an s2 one and they differ slightly as in brackets etc for dashboard etc, so had to remove some and add ones from the original panel .. and the bulkhead had some surface rust where it had been stored even tho it was oiled ... dont take much for the rust worm o get in... so I have taken it back to bare metal and re etch primed it... trial fitting the chassis legs and the front panels etc now...
slowly getting there now.

one thing I will say tho, its amazing how the dreaded rust worm gets under the black primer - even tho these were new (when bought ) and they've been stored and oiled the surface rust is everywhere on these panels , started to take front panel back to bare metal before rust proofing priming and then seam sealing etc I will be doing alot of prepping to metal me thinks...

well little update . Front end done for now, from pics above, panels have been welded , taken back to metal all race of rust worm ground out, dust coat of etch primer and re fitted and then seam sealed .. I can now consentrate of the back end...

That is going to be an awesome build when finished and definately better than when it rolled out the factory!!
Hats off to you mate, I wish I had the talent to under take a restoration of that size!!

Fantastic work so far - i'll be keeping an eye on this from now on.
My uncle used to have one of these in the 80's as a company car before moving onto a mk4 version which he still owns. My father also used to have a mk3 1.6 ghia when I was a child - both in the same colour as yours
