finally an update,
Finished fitting new brake pipes today and bled the brakes. Really haven't been looking forward to doing this job but it was much easier than I thought it would have been.
drivers side caliper/disc and pipes
passenger side caliper/disc and pipes
[
drivers side inner wing t-piece connection
brake servo and passenger side wing t-piece connection
I have also refitted the fuel accumulator

Cheers for the comments guys, I really appreciate it.
The brake lines are new ones which I made up myself, i'm really pleased with how they've turned out but it was quite time consumming.

Nothing major in the way of updates as of yet.
I've removed the gearlinkage from the car and stripped it and cleaned the two rods down ready for plating. I'm not replacing many parts on it as it was completely replace a few years ago and hasn't seen many miles so its still nice and tight
and here's the two rods cleaned up ready for plating
I've also started to clean up all the fuel line fittings aswell
And after being completely messed around by fordpartsuk and also having the missfortune of discovering the most unhelpful parts department ever (Lincoln ford) I finally found a decent one and got hold of some new parts.
Fuel/oil filter and oil cooler seal
and a few parts to rebuild the gear linkage with
Thats about it now, i've also got a new engine sump to go on and i've also got the problem of sourcing a new plastic fuel pipe after snapping one yesterday when trying to seperate it from the steel pipe

Just a small update:
Fitted a new sump to the engine and replaced the lower gearbox cover
I've also got some new fuel pipes although I still need the steel one which returns back to the tank and it's no longer available from Ford

Thanks for the comments
here's another small update
the oil cooler has been cleaned, sprayed and refitted to the engine block along with oil filter
I have also started to plate the fuel pipe ends today so should be able to fit the metering unit back onto the car in the next few days
really pleased with how they've turned out considering two of them looked like this beforehand
that's about it for the moment but i've got a few more new parts waiting to go back on. Clutch cable, turbo oil feed and main battery wires

Very impressive mate - looks great!
It'll be strange to drive a mk4 and feel what it must have been like when new!
Keep up the good work!

Another small update
I've finished plating all the fuel pipes now and have refitted them to the car
I have also cleaned and plated the turbo water pipes
They started like this
Then looked like this after cleaning and polishing along with the turbo oil line connector
And finished up looking like this after plating
The turbo oil feed line, connector and pressure switch have now been refitted
That's it for now.

Just another small update:
I got these this week,
Starter motor
and also the wiring that joins up from the starter to the alternator
These have now been fitted to the car along with the battery leads and one water hose
That's it for now but i'm hoping to have the gear linkage rebuilt and refitted by the end of next weekend
