Massive respect to you for all the work you have done on the car

Danny - i dont know if you can help me but im in the middle of building my own rwd cossie fiesta. The only thing that is conserning me is getting the brake master cylinder from the cossie in the fiesta bay due to being so big and close to the exhaust.

Could let me have some info on how yours is done please? pics would be interesting aswell, if you dont want me knowing then fair enough

Cheers mate,

Heres all the pics i could find,

my master cylinder is tight, but it has been seperated from the electric servo, which is placed on the inner wing at the bottom (where there is space for it)

its basicly placed nexted to strut mount (touching), and as far into the foot well as posible, (i even shortened the rod on the master, so it can be placed as close as pos to the pedal.

After 15 months of being a std xr2 drivin, I've rebuilt my tt over the last 8 days.

now running,

1.6 rst pistons , xr2 rods with ARP bolts, balanced.
stg3 big valve and ported head, Kent 36 cam.
all running 7.9:1 cr, lower than i wanted, but i didn't wont to skim new head.
New engine breater system, now Works a treat.
my latest spec 4x4 inter, and 1off s/s turbo to inter pipe work.
Deflex engine mounts,
mocal oil temp and pressure gauge.
front suspension set to 2 degree neg camber, 1mm toein, rears no camber or toe.

Mods to follow

1.new carb, 5th inj to combat bad fuelin top end,
2. a solid cold side boost run.
3. new down pipe and elbow, and maybe a 2.5" zorst, to help top end power boost.
4. auto meter EGT gauge
5. engine oil cooler, as got abit hot at a trackday yesterday.
6. tune up on full boost (wont know till then how much, but about 17-22psi)

7. get it timed over the 1/4 mile

Some pics from the last 8 days

I done a trackday yesterday 1-4-06 @ Lydden hill, running low boost (10psi and safe ignition advance)

My cut slicks, Too soft and loked like this after 2 sessions

My road tyres Yok 039's done well for the morning, but in the end were slidding after 4 ish laps

Been out in xr2tt today.

tested my new 4wd inter, and after mainy (10+) top speed runs back to back, with 6oC ambients, i was getting 24oC ACT's max @5500rpm in 5th.(130mph)
compared to 34oC on my old 2wd set up, in same conditions and test.
Thats 10oC saveing from 2wd to 4wd inters.

Been out today trying to sort fuelin issue's (rich mid range) in the xr2tt.
and of yet, not solved, its now back to how it was this morning,
been playing with emulsion tubes, soldering etc etc, and also played with different static fuel pressure's.

Also checked speeds in each gear @ 6k rpm, using my snooper, these down on 195/45/15 yok tyres and wear on limit,

1st 30 mph
2nd 50 mph
3rd 76 mph
4th 103 mph
5th 130 mph, 6500rpm = 140 mph

all held at sed rpm for 5 - 10 seconds to record accurate speed of Snooper.

Also in todays 15oC ambients, saw 23-25 oC ACT's @ top in 5th.

Dueing the week i fitted new design deflex mounts with my own mod's, and now got no vibration @ idle, and engine got limited movement.

Not done anything on cars for a while, as working on house.

Except fitted Goodyear F1's on the front of the xr2tt 2 weeks ago, it now understeers alot less in wet, and on par with the yok 539's in the dry too.
i was out on Friday with the warm weather, and NO torque steer/wheel spin in 2nd.

Just done similer test, but with todays 14-15oC ambients, and after many top speed runs back to back, its topin out at 29.5 - 30 oC act's.

Update Time.

25/5/06

Now with the new downpipe the car is 150rpm less laggy, and running aprox 0.2:1 AFR leaner thro out revs. and does seem to rev slightly better at top rpm in 5th.
Todays ambients and ACT's were similar/same to the previous test with 2" down pipe and std tt elbow

Then i Was out on the night after, and with new down pipe, and full timing setup (not done this since the rebuild, i just run a safe 12degrees static) Now running 23 degrees with out det, and its pulling strongest ever at 12-10psi.

29/5/06

Was tuning car on higher boost (23psi), and H/g water way failed, and leaked out of side of engine

Luckely no other damage was caused, and i rebuilt it 2 nights after, with a new RST ford H/G.

Went out on Thursday night and all seems fine on full boost, But spark was getting blown out, so i fitted my spare GpA coil off cossie, and now sorted.

3/06/06

Had the xr2tt to Surrey Rolling Road.
Big thanks goes to Charlie @ Surrey RR, Top bloke and service

At the ign (no det), and fuel setting (not perfect)
As i run yesterday @ the PF fiesta thrash @ Brunters.

It made

12psi- 179 Bhp/fly, 170 lbft/fly, 148 Bhp/wheel, 140 lbft/wheel
15psi- 186 Bhp/fly, 184 lbft/fly, 155 Bhp/wheel, 156 lbft/wheel
18psi- 191 Bhp/fly, 194 lbft/fly, 159 Bhp/wheel, 161 lbft/wheel
21psi- 198 Bhp/fly, 199 lbft/fly, 166 Bhp/wheel, 167 lbft/wheel

The Most it made was @ 21 psi, but ignition was advanced 4 degrees more than what i can run on the road with out det,

21psi- 203 Bhp/fly, 204 lbft/fly, 169 Bhp/wheel, 170 lbft/wheel

They were all recorded , in 29oC ambients, and the car run 14 runs in total in 15-20 mins with out proper cool down stops, But ACT's, coolant and oil temps all stayed @ fine temps.

Here's my plots for 21psi, (GREEN)

BHP and LBFT @ fly

BHP/fly and AFR

BHP/fly and Boost

And 11psi plots

BHP / LBFT @ fly

BHP/fly and AFR

BHP/fly and Boost

25/6/06
Edited for all power figure's, as recieved this week all power plots in post off Charlie @ Surrey RR

Another update from the last 2 weeks,

Ok, i've played alittle attention to the engine bay of the xr2tt,

i've made the 2nd ss boost hose,
Polished the plenum, Boost hoses, and Ex mani heat shield.
i painted the strut brace, and wiper motor cover,
replaced all the fuel lines for new,
Full service.

Some Pic's of my s/s boost pipes i made for the tt,

Pic's of my new downpipe, and heat shields

And some Engine bay pics,

I've also striped the carb, modified it to help flow,
modified the plenum chamber, by opening the restrictive places out and flowed it.
i tried a few other mod's with the carb to try and sort the mid range over fueling, but with no joy.

i Also rejetted the carb for top speed runs, but reliesed the engine wouldn't rev past 6300 rpm in top gear, which i have put down to the hydrolic tappets.

On Tuesday i went to Performance Ford mag's Fiesta thrash @ brunters,

it rained before i got a chance to do some sprint time's, so was abit of a let down.

The mag will be out in 2 weeks time, so yourll be able to see my wet times in there.

And 2 nights ago i raced my brothers 300-330bhp Pulser gtir, and a mates Evo 4, They were identical to each other from 40 - 120 mph, and i was 2 car lengths behind, ( i was running at 15psi, 185 bhp / lbft spec.)
