On 19.9.12, things went about soar, where after a road accident on my bike, I ended up on a life support machine, and with other injuries, my right leg was amputated above the knee, and my right arm/hand was paralyzed due to nerve damage.
Anyhow, after a wee spell in the NHS care, I'm getting back to life, running on my new robo leg, and been back riding after i adoated my 2007 Yamaha R1 race bike to all left hand controls, and been back on track since April this year, as well as racing again after having to prove I was able to ride at page to get my Race License back. My return race meeting in May i managed 2x 3rds and 2x 4th's. I'm just trying to bounce back as fast and hard as possible.

19.9.12. Day that changed me. (Some stuff copied of my Facebook)
I can only remember a few bits of the day of this crash, then I remember bits from 2 days later. I'm going to sessions at the moment, called Emdr, it's a process where can be used to recover lost memory's due to accidents etc, as I want to know what happened, why? Well i need to know my thoughts and actions just before/as it happened and what I did to try and prevent, etc etc. But I have my brothers, 2 mates and the tractor drivers versions, and it all Tallis to gist of 1 story. I was third in the line of about 12 of us, the section of road is the Aylesham road, just past the housing estate and ind estate turn offs towards A2, where thro trees, there's a slight flowing left curve in the road which the trees make it blind. Anyway my mate in front come round it, and a women on our side of the road had stopped in the road, directly after blind curve, He thinks she got scared by the 30+ ton tracked tractor pulling a plough trailer that was coming the other way, so my mate had to brake hard to stop in time, then my brother behind him had to emergency stop and stopped less than 1 foot behind the car, then I've come along, not sure why, maybe i didn't notice them stopped (as no brake lights, as they had already stopped, but it was too late, and I tried to go between the tractor and car, Aprox 40mph (my brothers estimate) plus tractor going 20mph), I clipped the back of my mates bike, then clipped the rear quarter of the car, which sent me into the side of the tractor, the rest is history. (Today 21.1.13) It's coming up to 18 weeks now since the accident, i was lucky that one of the paramedic's was Alan, that also works at Lydden Hill and my race club, so I couldn't of had a better paramedic team and emergency services actions. I got sent to 5 different hospitals to have some of the best surgeons to do their each jobs needed. My right leg had to be amputated above the knee, my jaw was plated and screwed at Ashford. My right hand/wrist had to be rebuilt, pinned and skin grafted at East Grinstead, great place. Lung issues at Pembery in Tunbridge. General bed sitting at Margate, which was awesome staff and a inmates as it was. Worse of all my 4 of the 5 right 'brachial plexus nerves' were badly torn/damaged, (they do all the right shoulder, arm and hand movements and feelings) Stanmore done a 8 hour operation to repair the nerves possible, including 2 nerve transfers (3 were damaged in my Spine, so all that be done is hope they heal themselves, which is a big hope), it's awaiting game to see what movement and feeling comes back in the shoulder, arm, wrist and hand. The consultant said any recovery is a bonus :-(, and he thinks my wrist will need to be fused, as I might not be able to lift it, so it will become limp. I'll be back there in march for the 5th time for the discussion to be made to operate more or not. I now have limited movement in 4 my fingers, (this nerve werent torn, just bruised) also got a new movement in shoulder just before christmas which was great, but its a wait and hope that the nerves heal enough to let/get signals to muscles before they die (12-18months). I've been back home for 7 weeks now. Looking at going to work in next few weeks, to see how I can manage, standing all day will be a struggle, then adapting to carring out work with one hand will be the big hurdle/ and show if I'm able to return. Plus i need to rebuild my race bike and modifie it for all left hand controls, and adapt leg and bike to work together, then the aim is to be back on track in a few months. To get used the changes, and build up my strength. . I can't thank enough, for my family, local friends, racing friends, FB friends, and all the Nhs staff, as the help and support has been overwhelming. You all are fantastic. Thankyou.
The bike I was on.
The tractor I hit, this thing was pulling a plough behind it. Yeah it won. Lol
Nov2013, 1st time back on my foot on a universal leg.
My modifications to make my 2007 Yamaha R1 race bike all left hand controls.
Top lever is the clutch, bottom is the front brake, with a thumb twist throttle. Then I have both rear brake and gear shift on my left foot.
May2013, my return race meeting. 2x 3rds and 2x 4ths. At Pembrey, Wales.
Aug2013, at Lydden Hill.

you cant fix stupid
wow what a story. as i was reading it for some reason i assumed you could still hold the bars with your right hand but not use controls. i was gobsmacked at the last 2 pics to see your right arm inside your leathers.
i cant get my head around how hard the control and balance must be like that working one sided.
awesome achievment

Bloody ell mate fair play to you for keeping your head high and carrying on with it all. Many in your shoes would give up for sure. I was wondering where you had disappeared to as I remember the old xrtwo.com days from years ago etc....
Definitely an inspiration for other people, and how the fook do you ride a motorbike, especially on track using one arm, I can't even do it with 2!!!!
Take care
Chris
