New gearbox mounts fitted over weekend have stiffened things back up under the bonnet. No knocking now when giving it some stick. But its moved the engine back over slightly to the drivers side which is causing the lump to vibrate on the inner wing. great, its booked in for a dyno run Sat. Should be a good day. Will take some pics and hopefully video the run. 8) 8) 8)

Tonight I have sorted the mount issues out. . . Spent near 2 hours on it tonight but got there in the end. . .
No more rattles. . . Gearbox sounds alittle noisey with the new mounts on though long as it still goes not gonna worry to much

Its been on the Dyno. . . its survived 8)
Before I mention the dyno figures, I changed the Rear Tie Bar to Wishbone Bushes again last week. . . I had them off the other week to change the tie bar to chassis bushes and since then at speed the back ends been all over the place.
So another set for £15 quid was ordered and fitted, it hadn't been anywhere until today omg, the back end seems to be sitting lower and the wheel sits further back on both sides, now it did catch alittle before but f*ck me its sat on the arches.
Had to drive to the dyno meet with it like this, had no time to do owt with it. . .
A quick video of it sat at 40mph, notice the cabin filling with tire smoke

Nice looking Orion mate. Reminds me of my old Ghia i. I had problem when I decked it with the inner edge of the tyres rubbing on the shocks because of the camber!

Sunday I moved the car out from under the carport, I had a dopey moment with the weight I use to hold one of the doors back and tw*ted the front bumper with it. . . !

So tonights job was to undo the damage I'd caused
After a few flatting sessions and a few light coats of paint it was looking like this 8)

So with all the paper and tape removed it looked like this

And with a new piece of black tape over the bumper trim it looked like this

Tommorrow nights job will be to flat and polish the blow in area. . . looks good I think, not bad for rattle cans. . . If im not 100% happy with it tommorrow night I'll wip the bumper off for full paint

I've also order some brand new 60mm lowering springs, should be with me soon  ( don't worry they won't stay 60mm for long, they'll just want modding so it sits just right without the rubbing  )
So for now so I can use the car again tonight I've chucked in a pair of spring assitors. Had these for a while now and not bothered fitting them. . .

To high now imo but will do til I get time to mod the new 60mm springs

I've started rubbing the front bumper back for full paint tommorrow night, although the finish was perfect the blend wasn't and will bug the hell out of me till its all one shade of tractor red again

Tonight as soon as I got through the door it was back on the Orion, first job was to remove the bumper. . . then used a old workmate bench thing to rest the bumper on. . .
I've wet flatted the whole bumper off with 800 grit, wiped with thinners ( run out of pannel wipe )
Scotched the bumper again all over then used a tack cloth to get rid of any dust sat on the bumper.
1 1/2 rattle cans later the bumper was painted under the carport and then moved into the garage carefully and placed in front of the heater. . .

Don't worry about the finish for now, gonna refit the bumper tommorrow night and leave it until weekend to give it a quick flat with 2000 and 3000. Then will give it a light machine polish all over  Will look as good as new

so what suspension set-up do u run on the rear to get it sitting so low? dont worry, i have no problems with cutting coils, its just i upgraded to coilovers to get the back end down, and all they have done is cause me aggro fitting the wheels! scrubbing like a bitch! also, if u run mega low with chopped coils, wot do u do to hold the springs in place when u jack it up n stuff?

Just chopped 40mm springs on this one, my other one runs coilovers

If the spring falls out, just place it back in and hold it in place while lowering the car back down

how the hell do u get it sitting low on coilovers? i know they can wind down as low as u want, and mine even have custom top hats to get them lower stil, but my problem is the wheels foul the springs, then spacers and the rear disc conversion help to clear the spring, but then it just sits on its arches! and thats with the arch lips folded and welded flush! maybe time to swap my 205 40 17 tyres for something narrower? its on 17x7.5 comps btw

plus, my coilovers seem to touch the inside of the turret towards the top, not sure how bad thats gonna make things lol

if i cant get this working, im chopping up a pair of 40mm springs, refitting my konis, and doing things your way
