Dash All Prepped & Flocked
Well its been an eventful day working on your dash. Here are a few pics for you mate with a little explanation of what you are looking at. Hope you like them.
Firstly I began to dismantle the whole dash, then used a fine paper to removes all the scuffs and sharp edges from the plastic as flock amplifies imperfections, not hide as so many assume
As this is a p[olypropelene/abs plastic dash, no adhgesive will naturally have a chemical bond to it due to its self releasing properties. We use a special soloution which not only degreases the surface buts help agitate the chemical properties of the plastic encouraging the epoxy to adhere stronger
Immediatly after application the parts are exposed to heat
Now a 3 parts epoxy resin is mixed, a black pigment is added to help give the flock a deeper colour
Now the adhesive is applied to the parts
Now the Adhesive is leveled and smoothed
And now the magic
Relocating the electrode
Now being heat treated via radiant lamps, this stops the air moving and disturbing the finish of the flock
Well its been a bit tiring so I think a well deserved bit of top nosh is in order, left over king prawn curry hmmm
Well thats my work done, hope you like it and its been a pleasure contributing to this project
Raj
P.s. Si, thats corsa dash has defo seen better days mate, can't believe you hacked it up :-(
I will sort out the cracks for you pal, be good as new

Thanks very much for the pics Raj, the dash looks great! Can't wait til it gets fitted. I might have a few more things coming your way for flocking going by the pics.
Thats all the cage fitted and I should have more pics from Simon next week with it all painted up.

Had a great e-mail from Simon earlier containing these....I have waited so long to see my car anywhere near this state, thanks very much to Simon, Nick and crew up at Sitech.
Can't wait til I get it all painted up and the dash back in. Looks great Simon.

Hi Adam, just painted the inside of my project car "Anthracite" however it has come out a bit lighter than I or expected! my question is are you happy for me to do the same to yours? I guess a photo of mine might be required!

I haven't stalled on this guys, its still being done. I am trying to sort out some funds for the clutch, flywheel and driveshafts plus a few other bits and bobs. Should have this in about 2 weeks and then there will be more progress.

Ok after a long time in the making(nearly 3 years!) of not doing very much with my project other than removing parts and getting it painted, its finally time to get myself into gear and get it on the road.
The car was originally a 1.1 HCS engined MK3.5 Fiesta, 1995 N registered. Its covered, 54K from new and was in very good condtion when I bought it from my neighbour for Ł80!....the original plan was to replace the engine with a N/A 2.0 silvertop zetec and have it fairly standard looking, however after a while I knew this wasn't really what I wanted.
I really wanted turbo power so thats where we are at the moment...an empty shell awaiting a new engine and everything that goes with it.
Here are some pics of what the car is like at the moment
Pic showing the mk5 Zetec-s rear beam with focus rear disk setup
The 300mm front brakes, without calipers fitted, just squeezed behind the 15" wheels. These will have to be upgraded when the engine is completed.
Empty bay, just showing my newly finished front subframes and anti-roll bar. Battery tray removed also.
The inside has been fully stripped and the dash cut down but not finished. Carbon door cards will be fitted however the rest of the inside hasn't been decided on yet.
I have been contact wih Simon Smail from Sitech Raing, Perth with regards to getting the project finished to a high standard. Hopefully this will be on the cards when I return from holiday next month.
The engine will be based around an ST170 engine and gearbox with all the necessary changes reuquired for a turbo engine. Final output I am looking for will be in the region of 280-320BHP.
Any comments and ideas welcome,
Thanks, Adam.

Thought I'd post a few more pics of the project so far. First of all these arrived in the post earlier today....should be ample stopping power for the little fez.
And a fewmore of the cage fitted, I'll be going up next week at some point and help the boys get it painted up. Simon has been really busy with his own car recently.
Hope you all like.

I was up at Sitech on monday and made myself useful when I was there. First up was to remove the rest of the wiring loom and all the plastic and metal clips etc so that it is ready for painting. So once that was done I rubbed down the cage with wet'n'dry, hoovered it all out and primed most of it. I have changed my mind on the colour for the inside but Simon doesn't know yet!
I also test fitted my FRP brakes on the front, they will fit with the 16" mondy wheels with a spacer, but those wheels are not staying.
Some pics of the cage...
Its not much but by the end of the week the work on the box etc will have started and I should have a few more parts.

Got my new wheels fitted last week....what do you think?I need centre caps, but other than that I think they look great.
It looks high as there is no weight in it at the moment.
My big brother chopped my front lower panel off so my new intercooler can fit. I never got time to test fit with the bumper, as I will need to trim it first.
As for the price of the engine....your better speaking with someone who can build you the engine as everyone has their own spec etc,but its fair to say its expensive. I would budget around Ł3K plus for a good engine, minus the turbo etc.

Was up at Sitech yesterday doing some work on the car so I have some pics below....
My first try at welding ater Bezo bullied me into doing it!..all I did was tack the bars into place, my big brother came and finished it.
I had to test fit the seat as I have sold it to my wee brother, its all done though just needs painted.
I also bought my ECU, a Haltech Platinum Sprint 500 & loom.
Cheers for looking.
